Primary 1b were practicing our phonics this week! We looked at the sounds ‘i’ and ‘s’. “it was great fun” said Lexie. Keeley said “finding the sounds in the sand was good fun”. We were also taking part in Maths week. We looked at Henri Matisse’s ‘The Snail’ and how we could make art using maths. Hayley loved her version of ‘The Snail’. We also joined P1a for Maths outdoors. Welcome back after the Easter Break and straight into the hard work again. We practiced our spelling words… Erin and Freya with beautiful work! And Lacey C came up with this excellent sentence all on her own! Thank you Lacey! Mason and Georgia played a maths game together! Mason is deep in thought but Georgia looks like she already knows the answer! A genuine ‘Clash of the Mathletes’! So glad
P1b were straight back to the hard work after the February holiday. We started off with some ‘Have-a-go’ writing. We then continued our Active Spelling by revising some of the words we have learned. After out literacy work we revised our subtraction. 7 take away 5 = Using our penguins on ice for subtraction. After all that hard work we relaxed with some yoga. It was a great day
The Balornock Eco Committee had a fantastic meeting last week to continue our discussions on how we minimise food waste, ably facilitated by Tom Armstrong. The group discussed ways of monitoring the school’s food waste. Among the suggestions were pre-ordering the food the day before so as the pupils know what is coming up; and measuring the amount of actual food waste to see if we can reduce that amount
