Our week’s Work!

This week Primary 2 have been learning and having fun together.

We have been learning to up-level a sentence. If you have a very short sentence you can add words into it to make it longer. (Lily)

We have been learning about the river Clyde. (Ayesha)

We have been learning to count odd and even number. 1 is an odd number and 4 is an even number. (Laiba)

This week we have been writing sentences in our jotters. (Hooriah)

We have been learning the stories of 20. For example 18 + 2 = 20. (Hafsa Saeed)

We have been learning about the river Clyde boats and how they made them at the river Clyde. (Haadiya)

Ship building happened at the famous river Clyde. They still build ships at the river Clyde. (Muaaz)

We have been watching films about people making the tall ship and other boats at the Clyde. (Ghaith)

We made up river Clyde monsters who swim under the water. (Aiyla)

We have been learning to do sums in mental maths. (Ahmed)

When the ship builders finished building the boats, they set them into a pool on the river to check if they could float. (Aydin)

Primary 2s Learning!

It has been another busy week in Primary 2 and we have been enjoying our learning.

We have been learning to sit nicely in class with pictures to help us. (Lily)

We have learned that River Clyde is the second longest river in Scotland. The longest river in Scotland is the River Tay.

Happy New Year to all of our families! We hope you have a great 2019. Primary2 have enjoyed being back together in school and we have been learning lots of stuff.

We have been learning how to put numbers in the right place and we have been adding. (Wael)

We have been writing about our holidays. I had to remember to put capital letters at the start of my sentences and to put full stops at the end of my sentences. Sometimes you need to put an apostrophe in a word for example in we’ve or I’ve. This is because they are short for we have or I have. (Lily)

We were learning to draw somebody’s face to their shoulders. This is called a portrait. (Ahmed)

We have been doing warm ups in P.E. This is warming up your muscles and it gives you strength. (Inaya and Aydin)

We have been counting in tens. (Ghaith)

We have been checking numbers for partners to find out if they are odd or even. (Muhammed)

From Primary 2.

 

Primary 2 have been working very hard this week. We have been learning lots of new things

 

We were looking at Sputnik in the space race. We found out that Sputnik was made up of one sphere and four cylinders – Arfa and Inaya.

Sputnik was a satellite which took pictures and sent information to earth. It was launched in a rocket by the Russians – Qasim.

We have been learning about 3D shapes. We looked cylinders, spheres, cones, cubes and cuboids – Aydin.

We were counting the amount of 3D shapes we could see outside – Muaaz.

We were learning to listen for instructions to allow us to play team games in P.E. We also learnt what it means to be a good team mate – Hafsa S.

We were learning how to visualise. Visualising is when you paint a picture of what you hear inside your head. We read the Gruffalo and thought about what we could hear, feel and see. We then watched the Gruafflo to see how close our pictures were to the story -Aimee, Hafsa S.

We made models of Sputnik out of plasticine. We had to use the plasticine to make a sphere and four cylinders – Laiba, Hooriah, Ahmed, Abdul.

We made a background of space for our Sputnik. We drew stars using chalk and we used glue and glitter. We also stuck on some circles as planets – Haadiya, Hafsa , Ahmed.

We have been talking about our favourite books as it is international book week! We were talking about our favourite books and if we would recommend them to a friend – Aydin, Ahmed.

We have been practising our take away sums this week – Muaaz.

We have been learning about how to write a newspaper – Gaith.

We have been practising very hard for our nativity. The speaking parts have been working hard to practice their words and everyone else has been learning to sing beautifully for our performance – Arfa, Yahya.

We have been practicing the words above and below, near and far, next to and away from – Aydin.

Primary 2s Super Learning!

This week Primary 2 have been learning lots of different and exciting things:

We have been learning about the space race – Aydin.

The space race was between America and the Soviet Union – Muaaz.

We have been learning about shapes. We looked at circles, triangles, rectangles and squares – Aamira.

We were looking at higher and lower using playing cards – Ahmed, Laiba.

We were learning to count in 2s and 10s – Wael.

We have been looking at tens and units and finding numbers using them – Gaith.

We used non-fiction books to find out about Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus – Hooriah, Hafsa S.

We were learning about Saint Albert. We found out that he was a scientist – Haadiya, Hooriah.

We watched a short story, guessing what it was about and what we think might happen. We then watched it to see if our predictions were  right – Arfa, Hafsa S.

We were looking at Sputnik, the first satellite to be launched into space – Arfa, Aydin, Gaith.

We practiced our mental maths using our 100 squares. We used them to practice our tens and units, as well as our odd and even number by looking for their partners – Hafsa A., Gaith, Hafsa S.

We practiced solving adding sums using our empty number lines – Lily.

We have been teaching Twiggle the turtle how to line up properly and how to be kind and quiet – Haadiya, Arfa, Hafsa A, Wael.

We went to a special mass for Saint Albert. We practised the songs for mass and sung beautifully at the mass – Hafsa S., Ahmed.

We have done lots of singing practice for our nativity – Hafsa S.

It has been a very  fun and busy week for P2!

Primary 2… The Best Class in the World!

Primary 2 pupils have been so busy doing lots of learning and having lots of fun together. Here are some of the things we have been learning about.

In Maths we have been practising our counting using cubes. (Laiba)

We have been learning about sounds and practising the sounds. (Ahmed)

We are learning about tens an units for example 24 has 2 tens and 4 units. (Abdul)

We have been learning how to sit nicely… we have to do good looking and listening. (Hafsah Saeed)

We have been learning about odd and even numbers. (Inaaya)

I have learned that 6 is and even number and 9 is an odd number because when you make partners 9 has 1 left over. (Haadiya and Maryam)

We have been learning to sound out words and we have also been practising our reading. (Aamira)

We are learning to put our hands up to ask and answer questions. (Maryam)

We have been learning how to partition numbers for example 64 is the same as 6 tens and 4 units. (Arfa)

We have been learning about empty number lines. An empty number line has no numbers on it and we use it to add. You circle the biggest number and write that number at the start of the number line. If the small number is 5 then you have to do 5 jumps. Then you have to write then numbers on that come next after the big number that you started with. (Hirrah)         Mrs Hunter-Andreuccetti thinks this is an AMAZING comment by Hirrah. Very well done!!!

We have been learning to subitise. If you are subitising you will be able to look at a number of dots for a little minute and then you will know what the number is just by looking at it for a short time. (Lily) Mrs Hunter-Andreuccetti says very well done!!

We are learning how to teach our turtle to be sensible, to be good, to line up nicely and to be fabulous! (Maryam, Haadiya and Inaaya)
