Weather – Please apply sunscreen  and make sure your child brings a full water bottle daily.  Also pack a rain jacket!

Staffing Updates for August

Miss Gallacher has a secondment for one year.  The post will see her working with specific pupils at Tayport and another Fife school.  Miss Irvine also has a secondment for one year in the role of raising attainment across Madras and Waid cluster.  Congratulations to both teachers.  Their secondments mean that Miss Harrison and Mr Myles will stay with us for a further year.

As shared earlier this month, Miss Trewartha is moving to Largoward Primary School from August.   As a consequence of this we welcome Miss Ramsay who is joining us from another Fife School. Her new class gave her a warm Tayport welcome this morning at their transition visit.

Our class structure, based on expected pupil roll in August, is below.

Pre-loved uniform – at sports hall doors – Tuesday from 2:45 – 3:10 pm – please come and look and take what can be reused – a small donation is welcomed but not essential.  All remaining items will be taken to Tayport Charity Shop on Wednesday.

Weekly Update – 23 June 2025

Celebrating our Special On TRACK Certificate winners from   term 4 awarded at Learn to Learn last week:

Classes for August 2025 – please bear with us we are still awaiting confirmation of our full teaching staff team for August.  With current pupil numbers we are anticipating 4 composite classes and 5 straight year groups.   Almost without exception our classes are organised in order of pupil’s date of birth.  For your information the maximum composite class size is 25, with a minimum of 4 children from a year group. Rest assured that transition processes are well underway within school.   You will receive an email by Friday this week with new class and teacher details.  Please remember that if pupil numbers change (up or down) over the summer break then there is the possibility of children changing classes in August.

Pupil Progress Reports – please remember to return your confirmation of receipt of your child’s pupil progress report.

As we approach the end of term please ensure all school reading books and/ or resources are returned to us.

Milk for August – a reminder that if you want to order milk for next term it needs to be paid via I-pay before Friday 27th June.

In school medication – if we hold medication in school for your child please collect this on the last day of term (3rd July).  Please check expiry dates etc.

Foodbank – a final shout out from our Community Champions for any foodbank donations.  Please hand in by the end of this week.

Pop-up pre-loved uniform shop – Thursday 26th June from 2:45pm.  The Green Team and Mr Myles and Miss Trewartha will run the shop outside at the main entrance or in the View, if it is raining.

Weekly Update – 16 June 2025

The Community Champions MAD Group are collecting grocery items for the Tay Bridgehead Foodbank.  Donations can be sent in to school this week.

The Green Team MAD Group are organising a pop up shop of recycled school uniform.  If you have pre-loved school uniform, including jackets or school bags please send these clean items into school by Friday 20th June.  On Thursday 26th June from 2:45 pm items will be available at the front of the school [or if it is wet -in The View] for a small donation.

Summer Reading Challenge will be launched at our Learn to Learn assembly this week.  Please get involved and use Tayport’s Library over the summer break.  Click here to find out more.

Tayport Then, Now Next Showcase – continues this Monday.  Details were emailed to those affected by the unexpected postponement on Friday.  Here is a short video of all the displays:

As the end of term approaches please check that all school books and resources are returned.

Weekly Update – 9 June 2025

The weather is very changeable please send your child to school with a coat every day.

P5-7 Endurance Race – the children completed the final event from sports day at the Common on Friday 6th June.  Everyone had a go and ran their own race – we were proud of all of them!  Below are each year group’s first, second and third place.  The fastest boy and girl will be announced at our end of year celebration on Thursday 3rd July.

Sharing Our Learning EventFriday 13th June – everyone who booked a time slot to visit our Tayport then, now and next showcase should have received an email confirmation.  Please phone the school office if you have any issues.

Staffing changes – Miss Trewartha has successfully gained a voluntary transfer to another Fife school.  She will be joining them from August 2025.  We thank Miss Trewartha for all her hard work at Tayport PS – she will be missed!  Please note that our full staffing is still to be confirmed for after summer so we cannot yet allocate teachers to classes.  We are still in the process of structuring our classes – we assume all current P1-6 pupils are returning after summer – if this is not the case please let us know as soon as possible.
