Our Class Charter

Our class charter is based on the book ‘Our Classroom is a family’ we discussed how each and every one of us is individual and special in our own way. As a family we all look after each other by showing our school values – Safe, Kind and Respectful.

As a class family we also have a class dog who is our therapy pet! He likes to see us acting in ways that display our values and is there to offer support if any of us are feeling sad and in need of a cuddle!

Term 1 Learning

In literacy we are focusing on our phonics sounds and common word spelling. We do reading weekly in class which we then take home to practice. We have a weekly focus on handwriting as well as listening and talking activities.

In writing we are focussing on letter writing. We continue to work on sentence structure and aspects of writing to ensure we can make our writing better!

In numeracy we are working hard on number and number processes, this includes work on the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

In Maths we are working on time, our focus this term is looking at o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past.

In topic this term we are looking closely at ‘Our Community’. We are learning all things Glenrothes!

In gym this term we are focusing on improving our balls skills – Throwing, catching, games and balance!

In art we will be creating different special occasion pieces as these happen throughout the term. We have had lots of fun creating our Halloween masks.

In health and wellbeing we have been looking at friendship, what makes a good friend and how to maintain a good friendship.

In Music we will be working really hard to practice and prepare for our Nativity performance.

Other curricular areas we have not covered will be met in the next terms.
