Illness and Medication

Illnesses

Please inform us if your child is going to be absent and the reason for their absence.

In the event your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea the key message is for infected pupils to stay at home for the 48 hours after symptoms have stopped, to avoid spreading any further.

Symptoms can include slight fever, headaches, stomach cramps and aching limbs.

To help minimise the spread of the virus please

  • Keep hands clean – washing thoroughly with soap and water
  • Keep all surfaces clean and disinfected
  • Don’t share towels/flannels
  • Avoid eating raw and unwashed food

Medication

If your child requires medication in nursery during their nursery session, then this must be prescribed medication that is clearly labelled, and appropriate tools provided (medication spoon/ syringe). Nursery staff cannot administer the first dose of any medication.

If you give your child medication before their nursery session, then please inform staff and complete the relevant paperwork.

We continue to review policy and procedures with regards to administering medication and continue to require you to sign the paperwork we use every time your child receives medication whilst in nursery.
