Our Lynburn Rights Respecting Schools Ambassadors arranged a ‘Family Café’ to celebrate International Day of Families on Wednesday 15th May 2024. The United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child has several articles stating the importance of family in the lives of our young people. Our learners have the right to:
- Article 5 – be given guidance by your parents and family.
- Article 9 – live with your parents, unless it is bad for you.
- Article 10 – If you are your parents are living in separate countries, you have the right to get back together and live in the same place.
- Article 18 – be brought up by your parents if possible.
Families were invited along to our Café, where we offered refreshments and activities that our pupils could participate in with their families in a relaxing environment. The Rights Ambassadors did a fantastic job organising and promoting the Café. They were supported by our Family Support Worker – Sheryl Oswald and two Community Education Officers.
Thank you to everyone who came along and celebrated International Families Day with us.
