HEAD TEACHER TERMLY AWARD
This term’s Head Teacher Award was for Enjoyment in Learning and went to Angus Macritchie P2 and Aaron Mackay P7. Both boys received a packet of Mr Men Magnetic Bookmarks for their efforts. Well done boys.
IOLAIRE
Earlier in the term pupils and staff were visited by STV journalist Nicola McAlley who spoke to the children about what they had been learning in connection with the Iolaire project they were undertaking in conjunction with the North Tolsta Historical Society. During the week beginning 17th December 2018, STV put out two short features on the Iolaire, the second of which featured some of the children in the school and their class teacher Mrs Fall. These short features can be accessed using the links below.
OPENING OF NORTH TOLSTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY PREMISES
Over the last few weeks the children have been working with Cathie Mary Smith and others from North Tolsta Historical Society on a small interdisciplinary project to mark the impact of the Iolaire tragedy on the villages of North and New Tolsta. We were very pleased last Friday to have been able to attend the opening of the North Tolsta Historical Society premises in the old Schoolhouse in Tolsta where all the children in the school were presented with the very distinctive commemorative Iolaire pins. Presentations were carried out by Mr Murdo Morrison of The Anchorage and Mr Iain Angie Murray, formerly of 37 North Tolsta. We hope the children will treasure these pins and wear them at appropriate times.
THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER
On Wednesday 12th December 2018 a great crowd gathered in the community hall to watch the children perform their Christmas Show – The Elves and the Shoemaker. The evening was hugely entertaining and it was great to see the children strutting their stuff on the stage.
