Here is a few photographs. We had a keen P7 photographer, who tried to get a picture of everyone speaking or singing!

Fairtrade Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who came along. The pupils had a great morning after a week of looking forward to it. We hope you enjoyed our song about Pablo the Banana.

A big well done to the children who spoke about Fairtrade, speaking in front of a large group of people can be very intimidating but they all showed they are Confident individuals.

The final preparations for our Fairtrade Coffee Morning is complete.  We’ve decorated our biscuits, written our presentation and even rehearsed some entertainment.

Hope to see you tomorrow at 10am!

Items discussed:

Homework

Whole school homework:  parents liked the whole school homework and felt pupils were engaging well.

Numeracy e-homework: Sumdog and Education City providing a range of interesting and engaging games at pupils level. A reminder to encourage pupils to log in as guest setting does not target skills for pupils. Mr McKenna emphasised that research has shown that at least 30 minutes of Sumdog per week has a beneficial impact on the development of Numeracy and Mathematics skills.

Literacy

Reading for Enjoyment: In P2 we are working on encouraging pupils to read for enjoyment, through trips to the Foundry, exploring different reading materials and improving use of School Library. Parents noted that pupils enjoyed the trip to the Foundry.

Numeracy

Currently using Strong Maths every day with this term’s focus on Subtraction strategies using visual aids and concrete materials.

Health and Wellbeing

Mrs Hemphill is working with the pupils to develop their knowledge of Food and Nutrition and applying this knowledge to make healthy meals.

Free Flow Playground

Parents asked about the free flow playground. Primary 2 are encouraged to stay off the muddy areas. Primary 2 are reminded to tell an adult if something upsets them during playtimes.

Communication

Parents are enjoying accessing the blogs and finding out about what is happening in school.
