Happy Holidays

What a fantastic year I have had in Primary 2 with a wonderful group of supportive pupils and parents.  Each week every pupil has worked incredibly hard and as I start to tell Miss Jeffrey about their progress, I am so proud of each and every individual.

A big thank you to all the parents for you continued support, feedback and time throughout this year. I look forward to working with you all again next year and with the lovely Miss Jeffrey.

Also a big thank you to the pupils of Primary 2B, you truly are B for Brilliant and everyone in the school knows we are THE best class.

Have an awesome holiday and I will see you all in August.

Thanks

Gillian Mckay

French tuck shop

Monday is St Mark’s French Day and pupils are encouraged to dress in the colours of the French flag, blue, white and red.

To celebrate French Day, Primary 2a will be running a French tuck shop selling a range of French snacks costing 50p.  So remember to bring money to school this Monday.

Reading and library books

Can children in Primary 2, please ensure that they have returned all reading and library books to school no later that Monday 24th June. This would help us greatly in preparing for classes next year.

Thank you!

Week beginning 29th April 2019

Primary 2 homework

This week pupils will be issued a new homework overview for April – June, look out for this in the homework folders.

Numeracy homework will be mental maths flashcards, which pupils can practise at home. Each week pupils will swap flashcards so they can practise a different numeracy skill. Therefore it is super important that pupils look after these and bring them back each Friday.

Education City and Sumdog will still be accessible using the passwords in the homework jotters.

Whole School Homework

No whole school homework this week.

P7 Confirmation

On Wednesday evening, P7 make their Sacrament of Confirmation. Please keep these pupils in your prayers during this time.

Poland National Heritage Day

We took part in a Kahool quiz to test our knowledge on Poland. We worked in teams to answer the questions created by the  Modern Foreign Language Committee.

Child Led Learning

It’s amazing what we can imagine with one piece of paper.

Research

Pupils accessed Junior Britannica Encyclopedia on the chromebooks (available through the Foundry – with a valid library card).  Pupils started off looking at Scotland and then chose their own area to explore. We had lots of different interests including California, Foxes, Black Holes and Planes.

P2 Sharing the Learning Assembly

Well done Primary 2, the assembly was superb! Everyone who volunteered to speak did really well especially when using a microphone which is really tricky.

Here is a few photographs. We had a keen P7 photographer, who tried to get a picture of everyone speaking or singing!

Thank you to all the parents who were able to come along this morning.

Fairtrade

Primary 2 looked at different chocolate bars and made their own eye catching chocolate bars. These have been given in to our local COOP, thanks to Mr Mariner for arranging this.

Every bar needed to include the Fairtrade symbol and the COOP.

Fairtrade Talk

We had a visitor today in Primary 2 to tell us a little more about our topic, Fairtrade.  One of our parents, Mr Mariner, is an employee of Co-op supermarket which sells a large range of Fairtrade products and is involved in many Fairtrade projects.

He told us about the lives of farmers and their families in other countries, and how we can help them by buying the Fairtrade products they produce.

He brought with him a selection of Fairtrade products his supermarket sells such as tea, coffee, sugar, chocolate, bananas and even cotton wool.

As a treat for listening to his presentation so well he gave all the children a cookie with Fairtrade chocolate chips and  a Fairtrade banana each to take home.

British Science Week

Journeys and Transport was the theme for 2019. In a nod to Science week Primary 2 were provided opportunities to think about different transport, from trains, planes to spaceships. Here is what they got up to…

Fairtrade Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who came along. The pupils had a great morning after a week of looking forward to it. We hope you enjoyed our song about Pablo the Banana.

A big well done to the children who spoke about Fairtrade, speaking in front of a large group of people can be very intimidating but they all showed they are Confident individuals.
