Making our mark – the P7 debate!

Today, the whole year group participated in a debate as part of our ‘Make your Mark’ achievements. We debated the motion ‘parents should carry out daily checks of the phones of children aged 15 and under.’ P7a argued for the proposition, and P7B the opposition. The arguments prepared by the two teams were excellent, and our reporters did a fantastic job of summarising the points made so that our audience could make a clear decision on the winners. Congratulations to P7a for winning this great debate!

Playzone training

Thank you to Rachel from ActiveSchools for coming in the past couple of weeks to lead P7 in Playzone Training. We had a great time competing team building tasks then planning and teaching our own games that we take away and use when performing our role as P1 buddies!

Ceilidh Chaos!

Thank you to the St Luke’s pupils and staff who came today to teach us the first of our dances in preparation for the Cluster Ceilidh that we will be attending with St Johns and St Thomas’. We had a great time learning the steps and dancing with our friends.

P.E with P7B

Today we did P.E in the afternoon. We were creating games that used skills like hand eye coordination. We made games using soft foam balls and basketballs. We had ‘teachers’ at each station teaching people each game.

Pumpkin polka dot art

Today we drew pumpkins with polka dots! The reason why is we were learning about halloween and Yayoi Kusama. She is a polka dot artist who draws pumpkin with polka dots because of her childhood. Here is some of our art!

Today, we did a letter writing piece on Retiro Park. We were writing about the beautiful park itself. It has silver statues, tremendous trees, phenomenal fountains, luxurious lakes and gargantuan gates.

Board game design challenge!

On Friday, while the girls of the class were taking part in a sports event, the boys were given a challenge. They had 30 minutes to plan, design and prepare a board game that practised a specific maths skill. They worked in teams of 3 to produce some fantastic results and we had a lot of fun playing them when they were done.

Loose parts: building monuments

Today P7B were using loose parts and the task was to build a monument. Most of the people were building statues and buildings but some people have even built an army base from WW2. We had a very nice time but we were limited on parts so that was a challenge for us but somehow we tackled it.

Loving our library!

We spent the afternoon visiting the Laragh Library in our school. We loved the range and selection of books to choose from and sharing what we found with out classmates.
