Homework

This week’s homework is to discuss our class blog with your family and give some feedback so that we can make steps to improve.

Class Blog Listening and Talking Homework

Getting feedback from families is really important to us, please take the time to answer the survey below.

Christmas Parties

Primary 1 and Primary 2 are having the Christmas party on Friday afternoon. The Parent Partnership Group have kindly provided juice, crisps and sweets for the party. Pupils can come to school wearing their party clothes on Friday if they wish.

Reading Books

Miss McKay would also as if you could take some time to check at home and return any reading books, library books and the reading challenge booklet.

Nativity

After weeks of preparation, the Hoity Toity Angel took place. Each and every individual was incredible and together they performed a beautiful show.  Thank you to all our families for helping practise lines, organising costumes and finally for encouraging your child to be Confident Individuals.

They were amazing!

Week beginning 10th December 2018

Nativity

We are looking forward to sharing our Hoity Toity Angel Nativity with you on Thursday, in the meantime keep practising those lines and songs at home.

On Wednesday we had our dress Rehearsal in front of the whole school. The pupils were amazing. As you can see in the picture below, we were all feeling great after the show.

Homework

This week the homework focus is French. All pupils have been given their Education City logins which they can use to access the website below. We have played these games in class so all pupils should be confident in accessing these although they will not be familiar with logging in, as this is happens automatically through the Chromebooks.

Pantomime

Primary 2 enjoyed their chance to be the audience this week at the Eastwood Theatre.  The money we raised selling our Christmas Baubles paid for a snack and drink.

Week beginning 3rd December

This week will be looking at our First Minister’s Reading challenge.

Homework

Homework this week is a talking and listening task to be returned for Friday. Additionally pupils have reading books.

After school opportunities

The Foundry will also be holding a Winter Reading Challenge, if you get involved with this or any other after school activities, let Miss Mckay know so she can update our Achievements page!

Nativity

We will also start rehearsing on the stage, so please keep practising your lines at home.

Christmas Fayre

A big thank you to the Parent Partnership group for organising another fantastic school fayre. Primary 2 were very impressed that you were able to get such an important visitor during a very busy month.

As always the Fayre was well attended with our school families, thank you so much to all who attended.

Week Beginning 26th November 2018

Outdoor Learning Homework

This week the whole school has been given Outdoor Learning homework.  Pupils were provided a paper copy of the sheet below. Pupils have been encouraged to try one or two activities. If you would like additional homework, pupils could practise their numeracy skills on Sumdog or access Topmarks.co.uk for a variety of educational games.

Outdoor Learning Challenge

Here are just some of the things P2b got up to:

Amelia “My daddy and I did Star gazing, I think we saw a shooting star”.

Ioan “I was planting seeds with my parents”.

Lachlan “I drew a picture of a flower”.

Jakson “I have been looking at the stars and finding out about the planets”

Sophia “I was drawing little daisies”.

Victoria “I did shadow shapes, I made different shapes using things from around your house”.

Isla made a map of the streets near our school and made rock animals.

Nativity

Additionally Primary 2 are encouraged to practise their lines and songs for the Nativity, Hoity Toity Angel. Tickets also went on sale on Thursday 29th, available through parent pay.

P2B Enterprise

Primary 2 have designed their own christmas baubles and will be selling them tomorrow £1 at the Christmas Fayre.  We will be there at 1:30pm.

Week Beginning 19th November 2018

Primary 2 have had a busy week. We were given our Sumdog passwords so we could take part in the East Renfrewshire Contest.  Sumdog can be accessed at home as well as school and focuses on numeracy skills.

We have also started learning our lines for the nativity and have been practising these.

Sticking with the maths theme, parents and pupils had the opportunity to attend our Pizza Maths night. This was the first time the event was aimed at P2-P4 pupils and we had an excellent turnout. This was an opportunity to parents to find out about the strategies we use for Numeracy. Thank you to the staff from St. Luke’s for leading this.

On Tuesday we held our first P2 showcase, this was an opportunity for pupils to share their learning with their family.  As this was our first event we took this as an opportunity to focus on the everyday experiences we complete to develop our Numeracy and Literacy.  Thank you so much to all our families who were able to attend.

Week Beginning 11th November 2018

This week at assembly we received reflective vests and snap bands from Specsavers to mark National Road Safety week. The aim of this Specsavers campaign is to increase the safety of our children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them. Primary 2 have been loving wearing the vests and are being encouraged to wear them as they walk to and from school.

Week beginning 29th October 2018

Pumpkins

Over the last few weeks we have been super busy with pumpkins. We picked them from our very own school Pumpkin Patch. Then we drew sketches of the pumpkins looking at line and shape. Next we coloured the sketches using shades of orange.

After that we made delicious Pumpkin soup and toasted pumpkin seeds.  Most people tried the soup, 10 pupils said they would try the soup again.

Finally we wrote pumpkin soup instruction using bossy verbs.
