Throughout this term we have been developing and consolidating a lot of skills across the curriculum. Here’s a selection we wanted to share with you.
Class Assembly! We have recorded a shortened version of our assembly for you to see.
We will create a new one for the 4th May. I hope you enjoy!
Writing
We have been learning to write acrostic poems. Heather said “It was tricky to find rhyming words and words that start with the right letter”. We created acrostic poems about School, Spring and Transport. We will learn about writing letters soon.
P.E.
In Dance we have been dancing to a count of 8. Jessica said “It was tricky to dance in groups”. Ava said she knows it’s good when “we start and stop at the same time”. In Badminton we have been learning to keep our shuttles on the racket. Zaynah said she enjoyed “balancing the shuttle while walking across the bench”. Jude got better at “shooting the shuttle into the hoop”. Here’s a video of our dances.

Science
We have been learning about dissolving. We’ve been dissolving sand and salt and sugar, Rosa said “We found out that sand didn’t disappear but salt and sugar did dissolve but there was some at the bottom.” Olivia Park said “Stirring made it go faster”.
Social Studies
We have been learning about cars and Henry Ford. Angus enjoyed making a timeline of Ford cars, he said we “sorted which was the oldest and newest by looking at colours, the wheels and how sporty it was.” We have also used Drama to create a role play of Henry Ford’s factory. Zaynah said “he wasn’t a very nice man because he didn’t pay workers much until he had to double it”. Next, we will be researching a person or transport of our choice in ICT.
Expressive Arts
In Art we have been learning about line, colour and texture. We made sunflowers using sponge and fork. Lawson said “the fork helped us make straight and forward lines”. Megan said “the sponge made little marks to make the middle of the flower look more real”. We will soon be learning more about different types of Music.
Technologies
We have been learning about coding loops using Code.org and Microbits. Cory said, “We have been using the Microbits to use input and output”. Rory’s example was “pressing a button to make a picture appear or a random number.”
RME
We have been learning about prayer mats and places of worship like a synagogue, church and mosque. Mrs McCausland has been teaching us more about Growth Mindset which tells us to keep practising and trying to get better.
Achievements
Having shared all our achievements with each other, there are four we would like to share with you.
Finlay had lots of fun bouldering and managed to climb a big rock!
Megan has been practising very hard at Gymnastics. She is getting better and better at cart wheels and handstands!
Zaynah has written lots of Arabic words.
Lucy was awarded Highly Commended in her dancing exam which she has been practising very hard for.
We are so proud of everyone’s achievements. Well done!
