Term 2 in 2B

2b Class Blog

A new term has brought a lot of new skills to learn and new contexts for our learning. Our interdisciplinary theme across learning is Transport, now and in the past. This will be a focus across the curriculum in areas such as Social Studies, Technology and Literacy. There are also other skills to be learned across the curriculum. 2b have identified some of these below.

Writing

Lara, Megan, Niamh and Ava said “We’ve been writing poems about lots of things like animals. We’re practising making rhyming words and getting the rhythm by performing.” We will start learning about acrostic poems and letter writing soon.

Health & Wellbeing, and P.E.

Olivia Lee, Cory and Finlay said “We’ve been doing badminton and dancing to a count of 8. This helps us with balancing and holding the right grip, in dancing we’ve been moving in rhythm”. We would like to create our own performances in Dance and use our coordination to hit the shuttle in badminton.

Science

Rosa, Brandon and Heather said “We’ve been learning about forces and what a big force is and what a small force is. We have also been learning about push, pull and twist.” We will soon be carrying out investigations and reporting our results.

Social Studies

Zaynah, Harry and Alesha said “We’ve been learning about important people like George Stephenson and the Wright Brothers, they invented transports like the train and plane.” We will look at more significant individuals from the past and discuss why they are important today.

Expressive Arts

Lucy, Lawson and Jude said “We have been drawing with line and colour, we drew a red rose from a Burns poem, tartan and created our own drawing. We used pastels and pens.” We will go on to look at more artists like Charles Rennie Macintosh and create art inspired by him.

Technologies

Angus, Harriet and Harrison said “We’ve been learning to use and code Microbits using input and output. We also had a challenge to make gears that bikes and cars use. We enjoyed learning how they work”. We will make more games on the Microbits and complete a food challenge in Term 2.

French

Abigal, James and Rory “We have been counting up to twenty, having short conversations, and describing who is in our family.” We will be learning about French food and becoming more confident in small conversations.

RME

Christopher, Olivia Park and Ahmed said “We made kippahs to learn more about Jewish people, and we have been thinking about the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators.”
