04/01/17 – Masculine/Feminine

In Hebrew the ending of a word can change.

It depends on the word being masculine or feminine, and singular or plural.

Example:

חָמוּד [Hamood] Cute (boy)
החָמוּד [Hamooda] Cute (girl)
יםחָמוּד [Hamoodeem] Cute (boys)
תוחָמוּד [Hamoodot] Cute (girls)

HEBREW VERBS

Verbs have a core of 3 root letters. There are 7 groups of verbs.

 

1st Group (regular)

1st group verbs: usually used for a simple action.

Example:   לִרְקוֹד = To dance

The Lamed at the beginning means ‘to’

The root letters are RESH KOOF DALET – these letters always stay. What goes around the 3 letters depends on who dances and when.

There is not really a word for MY, so we say OF ME.

של [Shel] means OF
