Ahoy there!

There has been lots of pirate chat this week in P1C.

To start the week off, our imagination drove our need to build a shelter after our pirate ship sank due to horrible weather in the oceans, thankfully we found some land and we began our quest to make shelter. We worked very well as a team to achieve our end goal. There was lots of fabulous imaginative play going on!

We have been exploring 2D shapes. We have been studying their properties and comparing similarities and differences. We have also been spotting them around our classroom.

Throughout this week we continues to practise our sounds as well as learn some new ones.  We have been finding pictures that begin with the same sound. We have also been practising to form the letters by following the correct route.

This week we have also been playing with and exploring sand! We have been building sandcastles and searching for hidden gems.

Some of the children asked to make a map for the pirates so we started the process of making our very own pirate maps by staining plain paper with tea bags! This makes them look really old.  It was very messy but  fun!!

Today we made a very exciting find in our garden.  One of the children spotted a caterpillar on one of the plants. On closer inspection we realised that the plant was full of them.  They were hard to see because they were camouflaged. They were  busy eating the leaves. We talked about being careful around the plant and making signs to tell people not to touch the caterpillars. We cant wait to see what happens to them. We wonder if they will still be there on Tuesday when we come back to school. We will keep you updated!
