Primary 7 Schoenstatt Retreat Centre

Next Wednesday, 29th April, we shall visit the Schoenstatt Retreat Centre in Campsie Glen. This will be an opportunity for all children and staff to take “time out” from our busy lives and reflect upon our relationships with those who are important to us. Further details about the centre can be found on their website.http://www.schoenstatt.co.uk
Packed lunch required
Full school uniform
There is small gift shop and if you wish your child to buy a small souvenir I would suggest a maximum of £3
If there are any changes to medical conditions / medications from the medical consent form you completed at the beginning of this session, please inform the school office.

Woodfarm pitches-resurfacing work/parking implications

Due to resurfacing work at Woodfarm pitches adjacent to the school, there are a number of vans and items of machinery parked in the car park area next to the ‘cages’. This is restricting the car parking space available. Work is likely to continue until the end of April.

We would suggest that parents/carers use alternative designated parking/drop off areas until this work is complete.

Parking Issues

PARKING ON ACCESS ROADS

A big thank you to all those who have helped keep traffic moving by no longer parking on the access road to the cages car park – this has already made a huge difference to the blood pressure (and clutches) of those using the cages car park. Thank you.

However, there are still cars parking on the access road to the overflow car park, even when the car park – a few metres away – is half empty.

Please don’t park on either side of this access road or on the corner. This jams up the exit when cars are going in and out and is also a busy crossing point for children coming out of school. Parking here obstructs views and (when the road jams up) makes it even more difficult / dangerous for the children to cross.

Please help keep our children safe. Show you care…park elsewhere.

Primary 1class merger arrangements for Primary 2

As I made you aware at your child’s Induction Meeting last May, the five Primary 1 classes this year will be merged into four Primary 2 classes for next year.
The process of merging these classes will be done through Senior Management discussions with class teacher, ongoing teacher observations and assessments, gender ratio, whole year screening and friendship groupings.
I would appreciate it if you could complete the proforma below with the names of three children that you would like your child to be with in the same class next year. I will endeavour to ensure that your child is in class with two of these children.
All forms should be returned to school by Friday 27th March 2015.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely,
Josephine McGrotty DHT

Lockerbie Manor Meeting Tuesday 31st March 2015 7.00pm

As you know, our Primary 7 children will be visiting Lockerbie Manor from Monday 23rdth November – Friday 27th November 2015.
We value this trip as an integral part of our Primary 7 Personal and Social Development programme, as our children prepare for the transition from Primary to Secondary School.
On Tuesday 31st March, there will be a meeting in the school at 7pm to give an insight into the week’s events and to answer any questions you may wish to ask.
Tea and coffee will be served in the mensa from 6.45pm
