The Sutton Trust: Information for S5 pupils

THE SUTTON TRUST CHAMPIONS SOCIAL MOBILITY THROUGH PROGRAMMES, RESEARCH AND POLICY INFLUENCE

The Sutton Trust support young people from less advantaged backgrounds to access leading universities and careers. In partnership with universities and employers, they run engaging programmes that give students practical advice and leave them feeling inspired and more confident about their future.

Their programmes are completely free to attend. All costs – including travel, accommodation, food and activities – are paid for by the Trust and their partners. Mr. McGarry will raise awareness of this opportunity at the S5 Assembly.

University of Aberdeen Articulation Week: Articulation Information Event for Schools
Wednesday 25th November
From 23-27 November the University will make information and engagement opportunities available focusing on the pathways into a degree programme from an HNC or HND.

As part of this programme of events the Access & Articulation Team have organised a 1 hour presentation and Q&A session for school pupils in S4-6 and their parents/guardians that will focus on Articulation – how it works and the opportunities that are available.

This session will take place between 6.30pm-7.30pm on Wednesday 25th of November.

Study in Scotland Webinar

Glasgow Caledonian University will be taking part in an Applying To University Webinar Series taking place on the 6th of October 2020.

We will run one webinar during school hours between 13:00 -14:00 and a second in the evening between 19:00 – 20:00 to maximise the opportunity for your students to engage with us. Students are welcome to attend whatever time slot suits them best, the content for both sessions will be identical.

These webinars, run in collaboration with 15 other Scottish universities, will provide the opportunity for your students to learn about the process of applying to university in Scotland, including advice and guidance on the UCAS process, insight into student life, tips for crafting a personal statement and much, much more. Information on funding for Scottish students and contact details for each university will also be offered to attendees.

The webinars will be staffed by a variety of different Universities with a Q&A running throughout the full hour, which means students will have the chance to ask specific questions about studying at university in general or with any one of us in particular.

Heriot-Watt University – VIRTUAL OPEN DAYS

At Heriot-Watt University we will be hosting Virtual Open Days on Saturday 26 September and Saturday 24 October (Edinburgh Campus).

For Fashion and Textiles programmes (Galashiels Campus) the events will take place on Friday 2 October and Friday 6 November.
