Crookfur Primary is a non-denominational co-educational primary school situated in the Crookfur area of Newton Mearns. The catchment area consists mainly of private housing and the school sits in its own grounds directly across from Eastwood High School to which the vast majority of pupils transfer at the end of Primary 7.
The school was recently fully refurbished and extended, accommodating our increased nursery capacity of 90/90. The school has a new purpose built nursery, a large open plan P1 class, 12 classrooms for P2 to P7, a computer suite, science classroom, outdoor performance area, main hall/gymnasium, general purpose area, staffroom, lunchroom and kitchen. In addition there is a management suite for promoted staff, resource room, medical suite, learning support base, staff CLPL room and conference room.
Our children also benefit from an integral bird garden as well as a woodland area, playground and MUGA.
Strong partnerships with parents have been forged and the school is well supported by a very active Fundraising Committee and Parent Council.
Crookfur Primary has a strong commitment to inclusion and equality and we have a number of pupils from ethnic minority families. Our aim is to ensure effective teaching and learning for all our pupils.
The school has a devolved budget from the local authority and a major part of this is utilised in support of the School Improvement Plan.
