Numeracy and Mathematics

Mathematics is important in our everyday life, allowing us to make sense of the world around us and to manage our lives.  All pupils follow a structured programme including

  • Number, money and measure
  • Shape, position and movement
  • Information handling

Our mathematics programme includes opportunities for continual reinforcement and revisiting in order to maintain progress. Teachers plan for progression by providing children with challenging contexts in which to use their skills. There is an emphasis on interactive and practical work. Assessment in mathematics focuses on children’s abilities to work increasingly skilfully with numbers, data and mathematical concepts.
