Who We Are
The Joint Support Team is a group of school staff and other professionals who meet regularly. Our Educational Psychologist, School Nurse and representatives from Jewish Care form the core group. Other professionals, including the Family Learning Teacher and Social Workers also attend when appropriate.
What We Do
We meet together to discuss a child’s needs. By including representatives of all support services available, we are able to ensure a comprehensive range of expertise and resources are available to our pupils. We then jointly plan, manage and review intervention for each child/young person and where appropriate his or her family.
Who Can Refer?
All school staff can refer any pupil about whom they have concerns. Parents may refer a pupil if they feel this would be appropriate.
How Parents Are Involved
The school discuss the referral with the parent/guardian in person or by phone. After the meeting has taken place, a member of staff will discuss the outcome with the parent/guardian. Parents will be kept fully informed about any work which is undertaken with their child.
What Help Might The JST Offer?
The JST can:
- Make a referral to the Educational Psychologist or other professional, e.g. Family Learning Support Coordinator.
- Offer extra support in class or on a one to one basis.
