For those wishing the message in a more entertaining way I have borrowed this from the head teacher of the Moses Brown School. I would have performed it myself but I have a little frog in my throat.
For those who do not have the time (your lives are too busy!) – Barrhead High will remain closed to staff and pupils tomorrow (Thursday 1st March 2018).
This is again a one day closure notice at this time – I will update regarding Friday as soon as we know more.
Following advice issued by the Scottish Government, all schools in East Renfrewshire, including Barrhead High, will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday 28th Feb) to staff and pupils due to the forecast of bad weather.
To avoid any confusion, we have also cancelled the S2 Option Pathways meeting scheduled for tonight. We will inform you asap of an alternative date.
Please continue to check the school website and Twitter for further details regarding Thursday. We will post as soon as we are able and kmow anything definite. If possible we will also send a text.
Each student will have an interview with either their Pastoral Support Teacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to help them with their decision.
If students are unclear about what a particular course involves, then they are welcome to ask for advice from a teacher or principal teacher of that subject.
Each year, East Renfrewshire and Renfrew Councils join together for an event to encourage people – young and old – to remember the holocaust and the lessons that can be learned from it.
As well as organising our own in-school event, Kirsty Robson (S6) was invited to speak at the Councils’ event about her experiences of visiting Auschwitz through the Holocaust Educational Trust and her involvement as a Holocaust Ambassador since then, helping other young people learn lessons from that.
On the night, Kirsty spoke fluently and powerfully on this subject and won the respect of all those listening. She also showed brief clips from a film made last year in Barrhead High School by their Rights Respecting School committee and herself, with support from David Hunter of Moving Films. This film captured moving testimonies from Holocaust survivors Judith Rosenberg and Henry and Ingrid Wuga, who live within our local community.
