You may have noticed the big fence that is in our playground! We are having our old pitch taken up and a new 3G pitch laid. We are looking forward to it being completed.

We Love A Good Story
Mrs Arbuckle reads stories to the class every day. This fosters a love of books and models good reading skills. The children also see grammatical structure and learn new vocabulary. It also helps develop their imagination in writing stories .
The children voluntary choose books from our class library to read. They love to “be the teacher” and read to one another. Reading is a life long skill. Reading a book is such a good skill to learn.
Learning Through Play
In P2, we continue to learn through play. More than ever, it is so important that the children learn to socialise again after being at home for such a long time.
What’s In The Box?
Word spread like wildfire … there was a spider in a box in the pit! 🕷
Mrs Arbuckle suggested that it was best to leave it there and let it go on it’s way. ( She was feeling brave! ) However, our spider hero picked it up in his hands and put it in the sink. We all had a look. It had 8 long legs and it looked quite fragile. Not like the big black ones that sprint across your carpet at home. shudders
Crab Shells
Alex brought us in some crab shells and a baby crab to look at. They were amazing! The baby crab still had its claws. Mrs Arbuckle put them under the visualiser – the microscope wasn’ t working . 😢 We had lots of crab stories to share.
We have put them on our wall for everyone to see. 😀
Germs!
We looked at germs in our first week. It is so important to know why we cannot put our fingers or items in our mouths and why we have to sneeze into our arms.
We looked at dirt on hands under the digital microscope. ( Mrs Arbuckle’s nails were disgusting even though she had washed her hands!)
Next we used body glitter to pretend that we sneezed on our hands. When we touched things, we could see the “germs” sparkle.
Then we used the “ snot “ bottle. We pretended to sneeze and see how far a sneeze travelled. We even “sneezed” three times in one spot and made a “ booger puddle”. It was disgusting!
Finally, we used the airzooka, to see how far a cough would travel. It really made the paper move. We tried it on our hair too. It flew right up!
We now know why it is important to wash our hands and stay safe.
Welcome to P2.6
Hello!
Welcome to P2.6! Things are a little bit different this year, but I aim to make it a good year! It is unfortunate that we can’t meet in person, but we have to make certain that everyone is safe.
Should you need to be in touch with me, please email our school office and they will forward your email. I can arrange a phone call with you to discuss matters. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.

If you have not done so already, please join our Google Classroom. I will be posting a “Meet The Teacher” video there on Friday and a little powerpoint with an explanation about our class this year.
Thank you for all your support so far. It is has been a very difficult time for everyone in an uncertain world. All of the children have settled in very well, which is quite amazing, considering they have not been in school for such a long time. Long may it continue!
