Outdoor maths

We enjoyed being out in the sunshine today making posters using leaves to show we really understand how to count and display objects next to the correct number.

Diwali!!!

This week, we have been learning about “Diwali”- the biggest hindu festival. It is the Festival of Lights & Colours. We loved watching the Diwali story & singing the Diwali song. We made “diyas “- little lamps made with paper (which was very tricky, especially folding the paper).  We worked on beautiful Rangoli patterns & tried to make Rangoli with shapes, marbles, colours & even with our favourite Lego blocks!

Maths matters!

In maths, we practised counting numbers-forwards and backwards, finding the missing numbers, simple addition and worked on the concept of one more than. We worked on making patterns with rubber bands… little steps to uncover the mysteries in maths!

Blending sounds to make words

This week, we worked on blending different sounds to make 3 letter words. We practised writing on the smart board, on mini white boards and even made words with magnetic letters. Some of us made cards for Mrs Patra and wrote lovely words for her!

The Zumba way!

What could be a better way to finish off an exciting week other than  Zumba? We all enjoyed the dance steps with our favourite music – a perfect balance of rhythm, beats, body co-ordination, & most of all it was a perfect recipe for fun!

Measuring length

In maths, we learned how to measure lengths of different objects. We used hand span, foot span & cubits to measure how long things were in our classroom. We measured books, tables & even the length of our entire classroom. It was great fun!

Defib week

In P 1.1, we had lots of visitors in this Defib week. Sam the anaesthetist was our first visitor. He told us about different emergency services & showed us lots of pictures. We had fun with the doctor’s stethoscope, caps, bandages & special mask that puts people to sleep. It was fun hearing our heartbeats!

Next, we were visited by a team of nurses who taught us how to do CPR. We all watched a video & then practised CPR on our teddies. We are so proud to be CPR trained!
