Eco Committee 2017/18

Today the 2017/18 Eco Committee met for the first time. There is going to be a much bigger committee than previous years. 41 of us in total. Mrs Drysdale and I will be leading the committee as staff but the Primary 7 pupils have all taken on the shared responsibility of chairing and leading the Eco Committee meetings over the year. There will be 7 in total.

The entire committee today took responsibility for completing the Environmental Review for the school.

The Primary 6 pupils are going to combine as secretaries and also be in charge of designing the eco wall display in the main hall in the school.

The Primary 5 pupils will be assembly ambassadors and feedback information to the whole school. P3s will do the same job for infants.

Primary 4, 2 and 1 are all going to be Class Warriors – helping to promote eco ideas with teachers and staff.

During the meeting we looked at some videos and a PowerPoint to discuss what eco-schools actually is. Mrs Drysdale then set us on task to complete ideas for our new school eco code.

The whole school will vote on the eco code in the school canteen at lunch time over the course of next week.

Below is a link to the draft policy for anti-bullying. There is also a survey to complete to give you the opportunity to give the school any feedback before it is published on the 13th of January 2017.

Mapping with Primary 2

These children worked so hard this morning when completing their maths work. They were able to locate items around the classroom using coordinates. They were all able to ask each other questions and then answer those questions. It was great to see child inspired learning. Well done P2. The skills learned will be taken out into the playground at the end of the week to help a special visitor, (Mountain Rescue) find any problems we might have. 😉
