All Moonbeams chose what their imaginary friend was…..what their name. How old….. The favourite thing to do….what the colour of their hair and eyes. What their favourite colour for clothes would be and their favourite game to play. We all had made great pictures following our own choices in the drawing of our imaginary friend.

We ended our week by having a Chinese banquet. We tried a selection of Chinese food and even tried using chopsticks! We shared our banquet with Mr Campbell.
Each of us had our very own fortune cookie, lets hope they all come true.
Chinese New Year
The Year of the Pig.
Mrs Skinner was in class yesterday and told us all about Chinese New Year. She told us about all the traditions that the Chinese people follow at this special time.
We found out what Chinese year we were born in and looked at some Chinese items. We learned that it was good luck to receive a red envelope with coins in. Ewan was a little disappointed that his was empty!
Love is in the air!
This week we were learning about where the story of Valentine’s Day came from.
We talked about who we would send our valentine to and we then made them ourselves.
It’s still a secret till Valentine’s Day, so look out for the postman
Snow Day Fun

Maths work in the Moonbeams
Effective Contributors, Confident Individuals, Successful learners
We were working on our maths skills using domino’s. We counted out the number of domino’s we each needed and then took turns looking for the correct number of dots when it was our turn.
We then added up the dots on the domino’s we were left with at the end to see who was the winner!
Playdoh Challenge!
* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *
The Moonbeams class enjoyed making some playdoh creations today. We watched Youtube clips of a child making a wiggly worm and a snail and we tried to copy their playdoh techniques. We all enjoyed doing this!
Salt Content in Foods
* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *
The Moonbeams class recently looked at the salt content in a range of foods. We looked a pretzels, meatballs, crisps, chips and much more. We had to carefully measure how much salt you would find in each food and order them from least amount of salt to most amount.
We all managed to order these according to the numbers on the zip loc bags.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh Inspired!
* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *
The Moonbeams class looked closely at the life and work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We explored some of the buildings he designed in Glasgow and also attempted a step by step drawing of his famous rose.
We finished the lesson by colouring in a black and white template of his most famous piece of work. This took us a long time and we were all very focussed on the colours we were using and the shapes involved.
