Moonbeams Class Assembly

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams class led today’s Robert Burns assembly. We re-enacted our own version of Tam O’Shanter where we all took on a role. We also showcased our great Scots to the audience and used makaton signs when doing the Selkirk Grace.

FAOL – Eco/Sustainable Development – Clean Water and Sanitation – Water Cycle

The Moonbeams class worked very hard learning about the water cycle. We sang a water cycle song to the tune of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’, we looked at video clips of waves, rain, clouds etc and discussed how the water cycle in great detail.

We labelled a black and white diagram of the water cycle and coloured it in very neatly and also together built a lego water cycle diagram.

Eggy Bread fun!

The Moonbeams class loved making eggy bread in the cookery room today. They were very sensible and responsible when using the frying pan and other equipment.

Meeting Mr Grits!

The Moonbeams class recently participated in a competition where we had to name local gritters. We helped name Mr Grits and the gritter in question came along to school today to meet us!

Busy Day at Dean Park!

We went on a walk to the new Dean Park and woodland area. We loved seeing deer, Doris and Dolly the pigs and geese and ducks. We also walked around the woodland area exploring the pond and wetland area and also braved some of the playground equipment!!!

Christmas Party Fun!

The Moonbeams class had lots of fun at the Christmas party. We loved showing off our fancy dance moves, playing musical statues and pass the parcel. Some of our class were winners at the games and won some chocolate!

The best bit of the party was when Santa Claus came to visit. He brought us an early Christmas present 🙂

Christmas Themed Food and Drink Tasting

The Moonbeams class enjoyed tasting a range of Christmas themed foods and drinks. We had to decide whether we enjoyed them or not and complete the worksheet. Every pupil was brave enough to smell, kiss or taste the items.

We tried mince pies, roast potatoes, parsnips, candy canes and a luxury hot chocolate. Yum!!!

FAOL – Whole School Citizenship Programme – Singing Hands Christmas Performance

The Moonbeams class have worked really hard over the last few weeks preparing for their Christmas show. They made props for our Frosty the Snowman song and stars for the finale ‘Reach for the Stars’.

Each child took on a role on the day and coped well with the rehearsals and performances.

Glasgow Markets

The Moonbeams class loved our special treat today where we went on the train to Glasgow. We explored George Square rides and amusements, looked at the decorations in Princes Square, had a lunch in Tony Macaronis, explored St Enoch’s Christmas market and had a look at the amazing toys in Hamleys.

We have had so much  fun and enjoyed experiencing the hustle and bustle of Buchanan Street, particularly the dancing to the street musicians.
