Oliver’s Vegetables – Sensory Trays

The Daisies class loved exploring themed sensory trays today. We explored a range of vegetables in soil. We also used a peeler and peeled carrots and potatoes and explored their skins. Finally, we washed the muddy vegetables and had discussions over which vegetables floated in water and which sank.

Oliver’s Vegetable Theme – Tortilla Wrap Faces

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *

The Daisies class loved making funny faces today. We used tortilla wraps as our base and then used a range of vegetables to make our other facial features. We chose from cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, peppers and potatoes. We really enjoyed doing this, especially grating the carrots and cucumber to make curly hair.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall….

The Planets class enjoyed creating mirrors as part of our “Fairytales and Villains” IDL theme. We watched a short clip of Snow White and decided to try and replicate our very own mirrors and see who is the fairest of them all.

Magic Lamp Biscuits

The Planets class enjoyed using a magic lamp cutter to create themed shortbread biscuits. We loved doing this and were all brave enough to try them!

Making Crowns

The Planets class enjoyed making crowns. We had been talking about royal headwear since we have been focusing on our Aladdin theme. We really enjoyed making these and were all brave enough to try them on!

Aladdin Slime!

The Planets Class enjoyed making theme related slime today! We attempted to make it blue and added silver glitter and sprinkles.

We loved mixing the solution and watching as it thickened and consistency and were all very brave at touching the slime when it was ready!

Salt Dough Magic Lamps!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Planets Class enjoyed working together to create salt dough magic lamps. We split into two teams to carry out this task and really enjoyed forming the dough into lamp shapes.

We painted and decorated our magic lamps to look similar to the lamp in the film ‘Aladdin’.

Finally, we enjoyed using baking soda and vinegar to create a magical eruption from our lamps!

Sorting Treasure Items!

The Planets class enjoyed looking closely at treasure items. We sorted them into colours and shapes using tweezers. We also enjoyed looking closely at some of them using magnifying glasses.

We learned some of their names including rubies, emeralds and sapphires and played a “can you find….?” game.

Finally, we researched our birthstones.

Rajah the Tiger Craft

The Planets Class enjoyed making their very own Rajah! We used painted the paper plates orange and cut out shapes to make the tiger’s features and stripes. We had fun doing this!

Musical Magic Carpets

* CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Planets class loved playing a movement game today. We used the rules of musical chairs and created an Aladdin theme game of ‘Musical Magic Carpets’ which we all really enjoyed.

Everyone loved joining in and finding a magic carpet to sit on when the music stopped.

Finally, we enjoyed some Bollywood style dancing to end our move and groove session.
