Stewarton Academy Presented with Digital Schools Award

We are delighted to share the news that the school was officially presented with its Digital Schools Award yesterday at an awards ceremony at St Mungo’s High School, Falkirk.

Mr Hardie, Morgan Cumming and Miss Cooper receiving the Digital Schools Award plaque.

Representatives from Education Scotland, HP and Microsoft presented our delegates, Mr Hardie, Miss Cooper and S5 pupil Morgan Cumming, with the Digital Schools Award plaque to recognise the progress made and commitment to embedding digital learning across the curriculum in Stewarton Academy.

Mr Miller, the school’s new Head Teacher, was delighted to see the efforts of the staff, pupils and partners recognised. “The programme offers schools a real opportunity to build on their digital capabilities,” he said. “We are very proud of the work undertaken to achieve the Digital Schools Award. Developing the digital skills that will enable our pupils to compete and thrive in the modern economy is a vital part of the work we do and we look forward to building on this success and embedding digital technology and learning further across out curriculum.”

Parent Pay – reminder for parents/carers

Could all parents please remember to log in to their Parent Pay account regularly and ensure that balances for lunches, trips and events are up to date? This will make the process of reminding parents with outstanding balances more manageable as we move forward. We appreciate your support in this and ask that you get in touch with the Pastoral Support team should there be any issues you require support with.

Road closure and disruption to school bus services – *IMPORTANT PARENTAL INFORMATION*

Dear Parent/Carer

We have been informed that Scottish Water are closing the A735 at Brackenburn Bridge (between Kilmaurs and Stewarton) from Monday, 9th September for a period of three weeks.

Shuttle Buses has advised that this will be an issue for the operation of two of our school bus contracts from Kilmaurs to Stewarton, which will be addressed through the following measures:

The two buses running from Kilmaurs to Stewarton will have to operate through Sunnyside (current pick-up) then Main Street (McColl’s bus stop) and Irvine Road (bus stop at Vine Park Drive). All pupils currently picked up at Townhead will have to walk down the hill to any of these stops to get on the school bus.

The journey to Stewarton will be slightly longer as it will divert via Cunninghamhead. As a result, the pick up times for pupils in the morning will be 10 minutes earlier than the current times, which will also aim to alleviate expected congestion at Kilmaurs PS.

East Ayrshire council has agreed to this proposal. Parents of pupils affected will also receive a text message with a link to this information. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school office or your child’s pastoral support teacher should you have any individual concerns or issues in relation to this temporary disruption in service.
