Families,
As part of a class project, P2C will be opening our very own ‘Clothing Stars’ Shop here in the school. #ShopWithUs Let’s tell you more about it!
What we need? – P2C are warmly inviting our whole school community to kick start your Spring Clear Out and donate any items of clothing/shoes/accessories that you no longer wear/need/want to our shop. Our shop hopes to sell items for the whole family, from adults to children – all clothing styles/ages warmly received.
When can you donate? – Our shop supervisor (Mrs Cohen!) will be accepting donations on Mon 27 Feb, Tues 28 Feb and Wed 1 March. Although young people are not in school next Tues/Wed you are invited to drop donations into our Main Office. All items will be washed before ‘re-sale’.
Why has our shop opened? – P2C wish to support the community and tackle clothing recycling, also in line with our Clean Green Ayrshire mission. P2 created this idea to support Fairtrade Fortnight, during which our shop will operate.
Shop Opening Times:
Friday 3 March 9.15am – 9.45amΒ
Monday 6 March 9.15am – 9.45amΒ
Wednesday 8 March 9.15am – 9.45am
Friday 10 March 9.15am – 9.45am
Our shop can be extended at the need and request of our community.
How do I pay for items?
This is the best part! Anyone visiting our shop will be provided with Monopoly money upon arrival to purchase items. Our P2 Shop Assistants will develop their numeracy skills linked to money while operating our till.
Who can come to our shop?
EVERYONE IS WELCOME AT ‘THE CLOTHING STARS’ SHOP. Come and find the best bargain in town and find your Spring/Summer wardrobe with us.
We can’t wait to welcome #OurOnthank Community.
Thank you from Mrs Cohen & P2C

Families,
You may remember last year Onthank Primary was the only school in East Ayrshire to be awarded the Bronze and Silver Awards for our contribution to Clean Green EA. Now on our journey for Gold, we join our wider community and local schools on a united ‘Mission to the Moon’.
So, what does this mean?Β
We have been challenged to walk/scoot/cycle the 238,855 miles from Earth to the Moon as part of EA’s Active Travel initiative.
How can I #GetInvolved?
As a family, think about how you travel to and from school. Could you start:
As a school, this would also help keep our car park safer and less crowded – let’s do it!
How do I log my progress?
We have made a simple form for you to keep track of your progress. Simply complete it at the end of every week and submit to the school. Your family can log their progress too!
https://forms.office.com/e/6DiTaKMqmx
Do I HAVE to participate?Β
Joining our Mission to the Moon is voluntary and not required. We believe this initiative will help promote active travel to/from school and want to be the first school to land on the Moon. Help us and become more active along the way! You could also send your family walking selfies to Mr Swan π

Families,
We are excited to share on behalf of our Parent Council their ‘Sponsored READ-A-THON Challenge’ to celebrate World Book Day (Thursday 2 March), promote reading in school and at home and raise funds for new library/topic books for our young people.
Our Pupil Council and RRS Ambassadors will chat with their classes and pupil voice will inform what books are purchased.
What do you need to do?
Starting from today (03.02.23) for the next four weeks until World Book Day (02.03.23) we want to see how many books/pages our young people can read independently or together with family members as a happy, shared experience.
Families are invited to set a book reading target and kindly request sponsorship from family and friends to contribute towards the Β£20.23 target each class within the school have been set to raise by the PC. Any contribution towards this whole class target is appreciated.
Keep a note at home of the book titles and how many pages you have read and our ‘READ-A-THON Online Form’ will be sent at the end of the month for you to complete. In school reading will be noted by staff/pupils and added to overall totals. Prizes await the top overall class and top reader!
Funds raised can be paid via ParentPay or handed in to the school office.Β
Participation and sponsorship is optional.Β
Our Parent Council share their thanks and hope you enjoy quality reading time with your family. We can’t wait to follow your READ-A-THON journey!

Our Rights Respecting Schools ambassadors worked hard to create our ‘pawsome’ new playground charter. Primary 3T then designed the graphic which was then transferred onto our lovely new signs, huge thank you to John Imrie Signs.
To launch our new charter and house points, each class in the school participated in a Paddington Hunt where they searched for marmalade jars and clues leading them to the big reveal! Primary 1s and 2s even got to stamp Paddington’s passport.
Check it out in the video below and keep your eyes peeled for Onthank’s very own mini-Paddington bear!
