Recycling Christmas Cards
Hi everyone, The Eco Committee are recycling Christmas Cards after the holidays. So please bring in any cards you were planning to recycle to school. We will be collecting them until the end of January 2024. Thank you

Eco Flag – Green Day
We are celebrating receiving our 6th Green Flag by having a
Green Eco Day on Thursday 16th June 2022.
We are asking you to wear something
green or a green accessory if possible.
The Eco committee have organised some
activities- eg: water obstacle course, outside disco and time
trials.
Bring in your bike or scooter if you have one for the time trials.

ECO GREEN FLAG success gets acknowledgement from Scottish Parliament
On Monday 16th December Willie Coffey MSP came to congratulate Onthank Primary and the Eco Committee for success in attaining our 5th Green Flag. This is an internationally recognised achievement and the Eco Schools assessor: Keep Scotland Beautiful commented that our work had been outstanding!

That the Parliament congratulates Onthank Primary School in Kilmarnock, on successfully achieving Eco-Schools Green Flag Award status; recognises that this Green Flag award is an internationally recognised achievement for schools and nurseries committed to learning for sustainability; understands that Eco-Schools is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world with 19.5 million children, young people and educators engaged in 67 different countries; understands that Onthank Primary School impressed the Eco-Schools assessor with the amazing work carried out over the past two years with their chosen topics of litter, transport and waste minimisation, which the school, community, parents and the surrounding community were involved with through various activities; commends everyone involved in this fantastic achievement, and wishes them further success continuing Eco-Schools work.

Onthank is Blooming!
Over the summer the P6 Dig for Victory effort has produced an abundance of fruit and vegetables. Pupils will return to school next week and can enjoy some of the produce we gave to the kitchen to prepare. Well done everyone in last sessions P2, P3, and P6.
Gardening -Positive Choices Week
The gardening session with P6 was a great success today!
P1 and P2 will take part in planting on Tuesday
P3 will be on Wednesday.
Could children please bring appropriate outdoor clothing for this.
Gloves will be provided.

On Monday 20th May P6 will take part in gardening sessions as part of Positive Choices week. Pupils will need to bring suitable clothing for outdoor learning.

ONTHANK@DANCEFEST 2019 Permission Required
ONTHANK @ DANCE FEST 2019!
Onthank Primary are delighted to be invited back to East Ayrshire’s DANCE FEST 2019 event in March at The Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock.
We are calling on as many P6 & P7 pupils to join #teamonthank and perform alongside schools from across Ayrshire in a true celebration of dance.
Dance Fest rehearsals will take the form of an after-school club delivered by Steven Swan every Friday 3pm – 4.30pm in the main hall, commencing Friday 1st February.
P6 & P7 pupils wishing to participate should complete the permission form below with a parent/guardian by Friday 1st February.

Eco Committee – Unwanted Box Requests
The Eco Committee are looking for any unwanted plastic or cardboard boxes to help recycling within the classes. Every class recycles plastic and paper.
