Reading

You will be provided with a Bug Club password for online reading books. It is expected that pupils sign into this account every week and read from a selection of books.

In Primary Two we will look for the following reading habits:

• identifying the title, talking about the picture and discussing the author/illustrators’ name(s) on the front cover and attempting to read the blurb (the gist of the book) on the back cover.
• sounding out unfamiliar words/having quick recall of known words.
• reading with some fluency and having less hesitations as the week progresses.
• reading taking account of the punctuation.
• reading for enjoyment either using school library books or accessing their own favourite stories at home. You’re never too old to be read to as it models what a good reader does.
