HOMEWORK WEEK BEGINNING 5.10.20

Below are suggested homework activities to assist your child in practising work they have been learning about in class and can be completed at any point throughout this week.

A homework jotter has been provided for you to record any answers.

Limit your child to using two pages each week please.

Staff will NOT COLLECT THESE but you could photograph the pages and upload them to your child’s personal Glow page. See the “How to” video on the main page to help you.

Challenge activities have been included at the end of each curricular area section if you feel your child can extend the concepts – these are not compulsory.

LITERACY

– Log into Bug Club and read a book.

– Watch this video

– Make a list of your “ng” words – “ng”  is also known as a joined phoneme.

– How many did you come up with?

– Write 5 of the trickiest ones using “pyramid writing”  IN YOUR JOTTER.

CHALLENGE

– Make a sentence or sentences IN YOUR JOTTER using some “ng”  words.

NUMERACY & MATHS

– Watch this video

– Can your homework buddy give you some coins to investigate?

Can you name each coin?

Which coin is worth the most?

Which coin is worth the least?

Can you share the coins out EVENLY between you and your homework buddy?

Can you play Heads and Tails – try it ten times, who is the winner?

Record your information IN YOUR JOTTER!

CHALLENGE

– Count the money and see how  much there is in total.

– Practise counting coins using different bundles of coins.

OTHER CURRICULAR AREAS: ART & DESIGN

Remember we sketched the school using a writing pencil?

We DID NOT lean heavily and our pencil grip was LIGHT.

USING THE PAPER PROVIDED:

Make a sketch of the view outside your house. Sit at your front window or front doorstep and sketch what you see. Lean on a book or something hard to help.
