HOMEWORK WEEK BEGINNING 23.11.20

Please email any images of your child’s completed homework to their class teacher’s email address. A reminder of their email addresses has been posted on the P2 blog. Thank you!

LITERACY

-Log into Bug Club and read a book. Remember to do ALL of the bugs and that their eyes CLOSE so you get a new book to read.

-Watch this video:

-Make a table with the headings ‘sh’, ‘ch’, ‘th’, ‘ph’, ‘wh’ and ‘ng’. Have your homework buddy read the words below to you. Try to write them, without looking, below the heading you think they come under. After this, check your words to see if you spelt them correctly.

NUMERACY

-Watch this video:

-Create a table like the one shown in the image below in your jotter. Go on a place value hunt around your house/community and see how many different numbers you can find within 20. For example, a house number, a registration plate, a newspaper etc. Write the numbers into the tens and units columns. Below is an example using the number 14.

*Challenge:

      • Try to go beyond 20 if you can.

      • Draw how the numbers would look using the base ten blocks as shown in the table above.

-Click the link below and head online to play ‘Place Value Basketball’. Select the number range to suit your confidence and level of understanding. The game will give you a number represented by base ten blocks. You must select the basketball that contains the answer in order to shoot a basket.

OTHER CURRICULAR AREA IDEAS

-All the classes in Onthank have been set the challenge of decorating and painting our classroom windows for people in the community to see when they walk past. We are hoping to spread some Christmas cheer this year and we need your help. We would like the theme to be ‘Winter Wonderland’ so it can stay up throughout Winter, not just for Christmas. All you have to do is draw a rectangle on your page to make a window and draw some ideas that we could perhaps include on our class windows. Below are a couple of examples.

-Watch the video below and try to learn some of the different Makaton signs in the song ‘The Christmas Alphabet’. You may have to pause and play the video to help you. We are hoping to create a Primary 2 video in school to share for all to see.

Stay safe!

Miss Telford and Team P2 🙂
