Primary 7 Residential 2023

We are delighted to inform our Primary 7 pupils as well as their parents and carers that we have secured a booking for a Primary 7 Residential this session.

Our P7’s will enjoy 3 days (2 nights) at LOCKERBIE MANOR in Dumfries and Galloway!  The venue offers amazing facilities and activities including:

  • kayaking
  • paddle boarding
  • archery
  • fencing
  • zip wire
  • cycling
  • climbing wall

And so much more!

The provisional dates we have secured are Wednesday 19th April- Friday 21st April.

We plan to fundraise to keep the costs as low as possible for parents, and the school will make a contribution to the cost as well.  There will however be a cost involved for parents, which will be finalised in the coming days.  A non-refundable deposit of £50 per pupil will be required to secure a place, payable by Monday 14th September.

We would like to invite all P7 parents who are interested in learning more about the upcoming residential to an information evening at the school on Wednesday 7th September at 6pm where we can offer you a presentation, a breakdown of costs and answer any questions you may have.

In the meantime, please check out LOCKERBIE MANOR online at https://www.manoradventure.com/lockerbie-manor.php

P7 Transition

Good afternoon

I am delighted to inform you that we had two very positive, and productive, induction days for our new S1 pupils last week. As a year group they have made a good first impression on our staff and we are looking forward to welcoming them back officially as pupils of The Robert Burns Academy in August.

Over the summer you will receive a letter confirming your child’s Principal Teacher of Guidance and their PLP and practical class details. On their first day of school, I have asked all S1 pupils to make their way to Barony Hall, where they will be met by their senior guides and organised into their class groupings. Our staff will be stationed at the entrances to the building and at various points across the walkway to the school to assist anyone who needs help.

Please remember that there is information on our school blog that may be of interest to you.

I wish you all a safe and relaxing summer.

PRIMARY 7 Transition Information

We are looking forward to seeing the new S1s this week and hope they are excited about their visit!

In preparation for these days there will be a virtual classroom visit to all P7s to remind them about the format for the two days. During the induction days (Tuesday and Wednesday) teaching staff and senior pupils will be on hand to ensure that they are supervised and supported at all times. As part of the virtual class visit I will be reminding pupils about the following items and bits of information they will need to bring with them next week:

  • A schoolbag and stationery
  • A note of their new PLP and practical class (eg. 1A1- 1P3)
  • Their username and password for logging on to the computers, this is the same one used in the primary school
  • A pair of trainers for P.E.
  • A snack for interval
  • A free school lunch will be available, although you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.

Our school cafeteria has kindly agreed to provide a free school meal for any pupil who would like to sample what’s on offer, although, you may wish to bring your own packed lunch. Please note that our new S1 will have a designated area to eat lunch as a year group and will not be allowed to leave this area at interval or lunch during their two day visit.

    Kind regards

P7 TRANSITION INFORMATION EVENING

Dear parent / carer

I am pleased to share with you the link to our P7 Information Video. As we are currently unable to welcome large groups of parents to the school for a face-to-face information evening, we decided to record a video that you can view with your child instead. This video should answer many of the questions you may have about the final stages of our transition programme.

The video can be viewed by clicking the link below:

I would encourage you to watch the information video and look at the content on the P7 Transition page of our school blog in the first instance.
