Early Level Transition Programme – May/June 2021 – Information Story for the Children

Child Transition Booklets June 2021(Click Here)

Please find attached above, our information story for the children who are moving into Primary 1 in August.  This is a story that can be read with the children a number of times from now until August to help support them with the new routines and become familiar with adults they will meet.

Please point any ECC child’s parents towards this post if you know of anyone who has a child starting P1 in August.

Much appreciated

Sports Day Covid Style!

This year at New Cumnock, unfortunately we will still not be able to complete our usual sports day over at the Glens Park. However, we have followed Covid protocols and came up with a super alternative! We are going to take part in sports day at school within our class bubbles. All of the information is explained in the video below as well as the document attached!

Good luck to all and remember to wear your house colours on the day you are completing the activities if you can!

RRS: Dog Fouling Campaign!

NCPS have took the first step in making New Cumnock a poo-free zone! This morning P6-7 went a walk around the village and set up some of the poo bag dispensers that we made alongside an informative poster as to why you should lift your dog poo!

A big thanks to NCDT as they provided us with the poo bags! Please feel free to use any of the bags and let us know if they run out and we will fill them back up!

P7 Leaver Hoodies

Our Primary 7’s were delighted today to receive their leavers hoodies. On behalf of all the pupils, staff and wider community, we would like to say a huge thank you to our Parent Council for gifting our Primary 7’s their hoodies this year. What a fantastic memory which I am sure they will keep throughout their lives.

Term 4 PE Days

As we continue to deliver PE outdoors, please see below the class PE days where pupils can attend school wearing a suitable PE kit (Trackies, Joggers, Leggings, Trainers etc…). Pupils are encouraged to continue to wear New Cumnock T-shirts, Jumpers and/or Hoodies on these days.

Monday: Primary 1, Primary 4 and Primary 6/7

Tuesday: Primary 2/3, Primary 3 and Primary 7

Wednesday Primary 1/2 and Primary 5/6

Thursday: Primary 4/5

In the case of poor weather where outdoor lessons cannot go ahead, class teachers will plan additional PE opportunities throughout the week on days with appropriate weather. These lessons will be adapted to allow pupils to take part wearing school uniform and appropriate footwear (Flat shoes).

Term 4!

I can’t quite believe that tomorrow will be the first day of our final term for this session!  We are really excited to welcome all of our children back for our Summer Term.  Hopefully, we will be able to participate in many of the fun activities (or a version of them) that we usually celebrate in our last term.

I’m sure you all know them inside out by now but I just want to remind you of the health and safety precautions we must continue to abide by to ensure the safety of all our children and our whole school community.  It would be helpful if you could discuss these with your child/children prior to returning to school tomorrow:

Thank you again for your continued support and cooperation during these difficult times.  I look forward to working with you throughout the rest of the session!

Kind regards,

J McMurdo (Head Teacher)
