Communication friendly schools – sign of the fortnight
Communication Friendly Schools – BSL Sign of the fortnight
We are on our journey to becoming a “Communication Friendly School.” Mrs Johnstone is our Communication Champion and she has her leadership group working along side her to develop this in our school. We have lots to do to achieve this and need to cover aspects in 5 areas to be successful.
One way we want to become a Communication Friendly School is by introducing the use of British Sign Language (BSL) and encouraging everyone to use is appropriately. We will share our SIGN OF THE FORTNIGHT video which will show you how to do the signs.
This fortnight, we are introducing – thank you, well done and sorry.
Primary 7 Prize Giving Ceremony
Primary 1 – 6 Prize Giving Presentations
We are delighted to have been able to get back to some sort of normality this week and invite a small number of parents into the school to celebrate successes with our children. Although it was only a small percentage of children who could be presented with an award, EVERY single pupil, in our school, shine in their own way and we are proud of every one of them.

P1A, P1B, P2 and P2/3 Summer Outing
All of the classes had a fantastic day out at Dumfries House today and the children are all a credit to our school and their families. We had an excellent day and this video says it all about the fun had by our P1A and some of our P1B children sneaked into some pictures. Enjoy the short video. I am sure the children would all be exhausted this evening because they never stopped the whole day.
For the attention of current Primary 4 – Primary 6 Parents – Learning Journals
Learning Journals
Due to the excellent response to the use of Learning Journals in our P1-3 classes, we are very excited to be introducing the use of them to the upper classes starting next session. To help with preparation work for these, we need the current P4 – P6 children’s parents/carers to complete the form below and then the process of setting up the journals can begin.
What are Learning Journals?
The Learning Journals app allows staff to upload photos and videos of your child’s learning. The system is clear, simple and easy to use for parents, staff and children.
A huge benefit of Learning Journals is that it provides a lasting visual record of a child’s time at school. The profiles can be exported to a printable PDF to be kept forever, as well as having an electronic copy that can be viewed whenever you want.
Learning Journals is a web based service, therefore parents are now able to login and catch up with their child’s progress wherever they are be it home, work or even out and about, by using their smartphones.
Parents can instantly leave comments and feedback ensuring that the school have a strong link with the home.
Please see the image below to view the app you must download from your play/app store.
Getting started:
In order to be sent a username, password and pin allowing you to log in to view your child’s account, parents/carers must complete the contact form below.
Your message has been sent
Once added to the system, Learning Journals will then send you the link to get logged in.
