We are participating in ‘No Pens Day’ on Wednesday 29th November to raise awareness of the importance of communication skills in our school.
This national day is set to help improve children and young people’s communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Why is your child’s school taking part in No Pens Day 2023: Show and tell?
• Teachers estimate that, in the UK today, 1.9 million children struggle with talking and understanding words. Without the right support, they face huge hurdles in learning, making friends and staying in good mental health.
• It’s a chance for your child to improve their speech, language and communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Show and tell focus – MY HOBBY – please encourage your child to bring an object to help them share about their hobby with the class. This could be – a pair of dancing shoes, a karate belt, a colouring book, a reading book…. please do not send anything of extreme value and no need for lots of items – only 1 item to help them share their hobby with their friends.
We will also be encouraging British Sign Language practise throughout the day too as a way of communicating.
We are not asking for money directly but if any parent would like to support this charity, all money raised will go to Speech and Language UK – a charity that supports children who struggle with talking and understanding words.
