Happy watching! #togetherweareteammc
Hello boys and girls and welcome to our first Home Learning Assembly.
Assembly was always the highlight of our week and so now we have a Home Learning Assembly post which will also be sent by email..
We may not be able to be together in school right now, but every Friday we can be there for each other, find out what has been going on and who are the Star Pupils!![]()
Together we are Team MC !

What an amazing response!
Well done to everyone that got in touch requesting a shout out for their family heroes!
Anyone that didn’t get a chance can email and I will give a shout out next Thursday…

Hello boys and girls,
Mrs Duff and Mrs Dunsmore are so excited to be able to keep in touch with you!!! We know Marty bear is missing seeing you all in our school so he will be delighted too!!!!
We hope you have all been having lots of fun at home with your families, especially during the lovely sunny weather.
We have been busy drawing pictures of ourselves so that you can see us on your screens anytime you like! We would also love to be able to see all of you………so do you think you could you do a very special job for us?
Could you draw a fantastic picture of yourself and ask a grown up to take a photograph of you holding it, just like we did? Then you could send it in to Mrs McGahon and we can put all the photographs of our new Primary 1 friends together.
We can’t wait to see all of your lovely faces again!
Love Mrs Duff and Mrs Dunsmore xxxx
At Mass this morning Bishop Nolan set you all a challenge!:
To paint or draw a picture of your Priest and send them via Facebook Messenger to the RC Ayr page. We will use them to fill the Cathedral with artwork during this time when we cannot fill it with people!
If you are not on Facebook, you can email your artwork to Mrs MGahon on: Joanna.mcgahon@eastayrshire.org.uk
THANK YOU!
A huge thank you to everyone from Mount Carmel, past and present, who sent in messages, drawing , poems and lovely memories for Mr McMillan’s Memory Book.
We have been overwhelmed by the response and are truly grateful for you all taking the time to send them in, he will be absolutely delighted I’m sure!
Unfortunately, there has to be cut off point….so please do not send anymore as sadly we won’t be able to add them in now. However, you could still make something for him and keep it at home till our schools go back and bring it in then and we will pass them on to Mr McMillan.
Shout Out!! claire.crawford@eastayrshire.org.uk

Every Thursday we clap for our carers! It fills everyone with hope. Do you have a special person you are clapping for? Maybe a family member is a key worker? If you email me (Mrs Crawford see above) with your parent/ carers permission, I will try and add your shout out to our Health and Well-being Blog. Remember to tell me who you are clapping for and why. Shout outs will appear on a Thursday.
Good Morning,
Below is an update from St Joseph’s regarding P7 transition.
P7 Transition to S1
Our P7 transition events can no longer take place. However, Mr Boyle and our Pastoral Care team have our transition packs ready to go. We are currently determining how best to share these packs with you and plan to create a dedicated page on our website for our incoming P7 cohort. We anticipate that this page will be live in mid to late May.
We will let P7 Parents and Carers know when this page becomes available.
Thank you,
Miss Mudge
Another Monday, some days fly by and others pass slower. As always we hope that all our families are well, and staying safe at home. P6 designed a Monday Motivation banner to help lift spirits, we think it is Fab!

At MC primary we use PATHS as one of our Health and Wellbeing resources. We would love you at home to pick a ‘Family Member of the Day’. We usually have a ‘Pupil of the Day’ who receives compliments from their classmates. Adapting to our current situation, we would love if families could share this experience.

Look after yourself and each other. Together we are Team MC.
Good morning on this beautiful sunny Monday morning.
A few more activities to try at home. It is always good to take a short break from schoolwork activities and these ideas are great for a short brain break:
Busy Bags

Creating a ‘busy bag’ for your child is a great way to have a 10-minute break from schoolwork, or a chance to have quiet time if they are feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Using the resources in the bag, children can fidget, build, or make a craft item.
Fill the bag with craft items such as pom poms, stickers, collage type materials, pens, pencils, small pad of paper, glue, pipe cleaners or any other items your child will want to get creative with. What can they create?
Try putting some Lego pieces or toy cars in the bag too and children can build a small object or roll the cars around on the floor. These are good ways to help a child self-regulate and ‘switch off’ to the world for a short time.
Brain Breaks
Our brains are a muscle and need exercise too. Challenge your child to the test below.

The first test is easier, ask your child to read the colours as written. Then ask them to say the colour of the word. This is more challenging as it is asking your left and right side of the brain to work against each other. Left wants to read the colour, right wants to say the colour it sees. Give it a try!
‘I Am…’ Poem
To remind your child of how fantastic they are, and to fill their thoughts with positivity, ask them to create an ‘I Am..’ poem, and to be honest about their worries and their hopes and dreams. You can use the template below or as a guide to creating your own.

Stay safe and well!
