Fun Fact: Halloween dates back 2000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain where they lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off ghosts.

We are delighted that every pupil in the school will today receive a beautifully illustrated and informative hardback book celebrating Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our Halloween Costume Exchange is now available!

On Wednesday 12th October the Healthy Living Programme will be working with our local Spar in Meiklewood Road and will be giving out free fruit and water to school children on behalf of the store.

The Healthy Living Programme will be located outside the Spar for the children coming out of  school in the afternoon.

Reminder that the Tempest photographer will be in school tomorrow for individual pupil photographs, and also Primary 1 and Primary 7 class photographs.

Halloween Costume Exchange

On the run up to Halloween we will have a selection of Halloween costumes in our foyer. These will be available to anyone who is in need of a costume their child/children.

Similarly, If you have any costumes that your child/children have outgrown please hand them in to the school and we will add them to our exchange.

Today some of our P7 pupils visited St. Bernadette’s Relics at Carfin, along with Father Martin and Mrs Crawford.

Every pupil who donates £1 through Parentpay will be entered in a raffle draw to win a special prize organised by FOMC.

Enrolment Sunday

All children in P4 who are preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation in the coming year should come to the Enrolment Service during Sunday Mass on Sunday, 2nd October (9.30am in St. Matthew’s and 11am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel).

On Friday 30th September there will be a change to our normal menu as we will be having a “Save the Planet Day ” menu as follows:

Climate Change Curry and Rainforest Rice ( Lentil Korma)

Planet Power Pizza (Cheese Pizza)

Green Fingers & No Waste Wedges (Vegetable Wedges)

Broccoli Trees & Rainbow Salad

Global Gateau/Save the planet sorbet

We will once again be accepting  any unwanted items of clothing for our Rag Bag collection. Previously, Rag Bag pre-printed bags were distributed to schools for donations, however, this is no longer the case. Please hand any donations into the school in a carrier bag or bin bag by 9am on Monday 3rd October.

There will be a face to face Parent Council Meeting in the school on Tuesday 4th October at 7pm.

The Tempest photographer  will be in school on Tuesday 4th October. All children will have an individual photograph taken . P1 and P7 will also have a class photograph taken.

Pupils will be receiving their flu immunisations on Tuesday 25th October. Please return your child’s permission form if you have not already done so. Thank you.

We would like to remind parents and carers that there is no parking/drop-off/waiting in the school car park. There is additional parking across in the church car park.
