Good Morning Everyone,
As it has been so cold and icy outside I thought we could make some ice art today. This activity combines messy play, creative art and science.
To start off our ice art why donβt you go on a scavenger hunt around your house to see what interesting containers you can find. Β A mix of different shapes and sizes of containers will give you lots of variety in your sculpture building blocks.
Next you need to mix food colouring or paint with water and use that to fill the containers. Β Water gets bigger when it freezes so make sure to leave space at the top of each container. Β Pop all your containers into the freezer or if itβs cold enough put outside overnight. Β Now let the cold temperatures work their magic β¨
By running the frozen containers under the tap for a few seconds it will help release the ice from their pots.
With your colourful blocks of ice you can make amazing ice sculptures. I canβt wait to see what amazing art work you create!
You could also pour salt on some of your ice blocks. Β What effect did the salt have on the ice?
Have fun π
