Let’s get creative πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’œ

Hi Blues, Yellows and Purples. πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’œ

Since we having to spend some time at home this week I thought we could use our imaginations and have some fun creating with junk modelling.

Have a look in your cardboard / paper recycling Β bin and see what you can find to make a fabulous creation. You could maybe make a rocket, a car, a castle or even a car ramp like Calum did this morning. He used cardboard boxes, toilet roll tubes and tape to stick it all together.

I can’t wait to see your amazing creations.

Friday 19th February πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’šβ€οΈ

Good Morning Everyone!

As it’s Friday I thought it would be fun if we all got active and pretended to be dinosaurs! πŸ¦–πŸ¦•πŸ¦–πŸ¦•

Here are some ideas….

All the ladies are really excited to see you all on Monday but are wondering how you feel about coming back? Some of you will be excited and looking forward to it but others might be a little bit nervous or worried. Could you draw me a picture of yourself to show how you are feeling?

Isla and Rory drew pictures this morning to show how they felt about going back to school.

Isla is really looking forward to her being able to go back to school to see her friends but Rory is a little bit sad and worried. It’s perfectly normal to feel a bit anxious like this when we go through periods of change. Β Please remember the ladies are all here for you and will do our very best to make coming back lots of fun! β€οΈπŸŽ‰

Please send any pictures or comments to myself or your child’s keyworker and let us know how they are feeling so we can best support them coming back.

Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you all on Monday. 😊

Thursday 11th February 2021πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’œ

Good Morning Everyone,

As it has been so cold and icy outside I thought we could make some ice art today. This activity combines messy play, creative art and science.

To start off our ice art why don’t you go on a scavenger hunt around your house to see what interesting containers you can find. Β A mix of different shapes and sizes of containers will give you lots of variety in your sculpture building blocks.

Next you need to mix food colouring or paint with water and use that to fill the containers. Β Water gets bigger when it freezes so make sure to leave space at the top of each container. Β  Pop all your containers into the freezer or if it’s cold enough put outside overnight. Β Now let the cold temperatures work their magic ✨

By running the frozen containers under the tap for a few seconds it will help release the ice from their pots.

With your colourful blocks of ice you can make amazing ice sculptures. I can’t wait to see what amazing art work you create!

You could also pour salt on some of your ice blocks. Β What effect did the salt have on the ice?

Have fun 🌈

πŸŒ±πŸ¦†πŸ΄πŸ„Tuesday 2nd February- Mindfulness Safari Walk

Mindfulness is a great way of clearing your mind and becoming more aware of your surrounding environment.Β  It allows us to live in the present moment and appreciate what is around us. πŸŒ±πŸ‚πŸ„

A safari walk is a great way to introduce mindfulness to children and can turn an everyday walk into an exciting adventure.

On your safari walk your aim is to notice as many birds, bugs, creepy crawlies and other animals as you can.Β  Try and spot anything that walks, swims or flies. πŸπŸ¦†πŸ”πŸ¦πŸ¦‰πŸ΄πŸŒπŸ•·πŸ„πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ¦”πŸ¦‘ Β Look at how amazing they are! What sounds can you hear? Can you hear birds chirping?Β  What can you feel? The cold breeze on your skin?

To do this young children need to focus all of their senses and it creates a state of awareness to the present moment and an appreciation of the world and nature around us.

During this second lockdown, which may be causing added stress for both adults and children it is important to make a little time each day to clear our minds.

Wishing you all a calm and mindful day, πŸ’›πŸ’œβ€οΈπŸ’šπŸ’™

Thursday 28th January- Magic Potions πŸ§ͺ✨

Good Morning Everyone πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’šβ€οΈπŸ’œ

I hope you are all well. Β Rory and I have had lots of fun making magic potions with water in the kitchen sink and wondered if you might like to try it too? Β Rory’s potion was green, with lots of bubbles and had lime and leaves in it!

Here are some materials you could use…

Plastic containers, plastic cups, egg cups, small bottles, food colouring, washing up liquid / hand soap, leaves, petals, chopped fruit.

Making potions is fun but also allows your child to use their imagination and explore textures, smells, colour and nature.

Here are some photos of Rory and his potions..

Have fun and I can’t wait to hear all about your fabulous potions! πŸ§ͺ✨ (please remember not to drink them).

Storytelling Friday πŸ’›πŸ’šβ€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’œ

Good Morning Everyone 😊

Reading and sharing stories with your child helps them to get to know sounds, words and develop language and early literacy skills. Β  Not only does reading stories to children spark their imagination but it can also help develop concentration and listening skills.

So as it’s Friday, and all the kids and grown ups have been working really hard all week, I thought it would be lovely to cuddle up on the couch with your grown up and read your favourite story. Β Afterwards you could talk about the characters and what happened in the story.

I have attached a little video of me reading one of my favourite stories called β€˜Slinky Malinki Early Bird’.

I would love to hear what your favourite stories are.

Happy Reading!πŸ“–

Thursday 14th January πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’™

Good Morning Everyone! 😊

In nursery the children have been working hard on identifying rhyming words in stories, songs etc.

Listen carefully to this story, can you hear any words that rhyme or sound the same? Β Talk to your grown up about it. Β You could also play I Spy at home, Β can you spot any objects that rhyme or sound the same?

I would love to hear how you get on.

Kind Regards

Debbie πŸ’›
