A huge thank you to everyone who donated clothes and textiles as part of our Rights Respecting School recycling campaign for Rag Bag and our fundraising for Cash for Kids.
We collected an impressive 169kg of clothing which will be transported to countries in need. The £67.60 raised will help support children in our local area.
As a school this year, we have decided to show our support to Ukraine by walking the equivalent miles if we started at the school and made our way to Ukraine! Currently, we have 273 children in the school and it’s 1895 miles from Drongan to Ukraine. So that means if each child in the school walks 1.2 miles every day (Monday-Friday) we would reach our walking goal!
We will have different walking themes every day that are listed below (there is also an alternative list if you’d prefer to complete the other theme!). On the Friday, we are looking for the children to wear blue and yellow to show our support to Ukraine and if possible to bring in a small donation (or donate on ParentPay) that will be given straight to a relevant charity that is supporting Ukraine!
The themes this year are:
Mellow Monday: wearing comfy clothes
Trainer Tuesday: wearing trainers to school
Wild Hair Wednesday: come to school with crazy hair
Thrilling Thursday: wearing silly clothing/jammies
Support Ukraine Friday: wearing blue and yellow clothes
These are the alternative themes if you don’t fancy any of the other themes:
Team Up: walk to school with friends
Defeat Danger: wear hi-vis to school
Boost Health: take a longer route to school
Save the Planet: pick up some rubbish on the way to school and put it in the bin
Walk to School week is from the 16th to the 20th of May! We can’t wait to get our steps in!
