Kenneth Clarke Community Garden – Opening Ceremony

It was a pleasure to be involved in the opening ceremony of The Kenneth Clarke Community Garden on Friday 27th September.  It was an excellent event organised by Drongan Grassroots, and supported by many important people and organisations from across the authority.

We were extremely proud of the children from Drongan Primary who read poems that they had written, and also of our choir who sang at the event.

Thank you to Drongan Grassroots who have supported us and worked together to make this happen.  Also, thank you to our Parent Council who supported us in order to access some of the funding.  And to J R Garden Solutions for doing such a great job of landscaping the garden.

A huge thanks to Kenneth’s family, who have been so supportive to the school over the years.  It really is a fitting tribute for this wonderful resource to be named after Kenneth.

Prizegiving – Schaw Kirk Caring Award Nominations 2024

This year we will once again be celebrating the achievements of our pupils for the 2023/24 school session at our Prizegiving service in June.

One of the awards we present is the ‘Schaw Kirk Caring Award’. Nominations are sent in by parents/carers or a member of the community, where they nominate a child/pupil who has stood out for being kind/helpful/hardworking for either their family or the wider community.

If you would like to nominate a pupil, please use the link below to write the name of the child and give a brief description of why they deserve this award. Please leave your name at the end of the nomination as well.

Barony Burns Success

We had more Burns success at the inaugural Barony Burns Competition on Tuesday 26th March.  Mitchell won the P1 – 3 category and Jessica was the winner for P6-7.  Well done to Jandre who competed in the P4 – 5 category.

A huge well done once again on what has been a very successful year for Drongan Primary School in Burns competitions.

Celebrating Equality and Diversity

Following on from our successful ‘Dress to Express’ Day, we are continuing to learn more about equality and diversity as part of  February’s Diversity Awareness Month.

In class, your children will learn more about these terms through a variety of activities and discussions.

To help your children accept themselves and others as they are,  this picture book about diversity will help them to respect all the differences that make us unique.

Please enjoy reading it together.

Dress to Express

Friday is Dress to Express Day at Drongan Primary School. As you may know, this week we are supporting and raising awareness of Children’s Mental Health.  Supported by Place2Be the theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is ‘My Voice Matters’.

Pupils and staff are asked to help raise awareness on Friday, 2nd February by dressing to express.  You may choose to dress in your favourite colour.  You might choose a colour which expresses how you’re feeling or wear your hair in a certain way.  Either way, Friday is Dress to Express Day and your chance to express yourself!

As you know, it has never been more important to support our pupils’ mental health and wellbeing. We all play an important role. If you would like to check out Place2Be’s free resources, please visit their website.
