Well done for all the hard work and great focus on learning last week. Below you will find the learning grids for all areas of learning for this week. Responding to feedback from parents, Mrs Forsyth will be posting a video with a little more information about the various activities available to you this week. So be watching out for that shortly. She will also be posting her phonics and spelling videos in the coming days. We hope that you are feeling good about the learning you are doing at home and as ever, we are here to help and support you. Please continue to send us your videos and photos as they make us smile. Keep up the good work!

Good morning P1 – Thursday 14th January 2021
Good morning everyone. I hope you all feel well rested after a good night’s sleep.
I just wanted to say that I have been loving receiving your emails, photos and videos. Please keep them coming because they let me know that you are happy and engaged. Remember, life skills are also important, so be helping to keep your room tidy, try making up your bed and be kind to each other. Adults at home – you are doing an amazing job! The work that you have sent us has been fabulous.
Remember to make a special effort to look at the Rabbie Burns PowerPoint I posted yesterday. It will take you a bit of practise to learn it off by heart. I am so looking forward to seeing your efforts.
As the week is closing to an end and I won’t have a chance to blog tomorrow as I will be in school, I just wanted to ask adults at home if you could take the time today or tomorrow to send us a quick email to let us know what you have particularly liked, found useful or what you would like to see more of in the learning to come over the next few weeks. After all, it’s you at home trying your best to provide good learning experiences. We want to help out with this as much as possible.
Have a good day everyone and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Good morning P1 – Wednesday 13th January 2021
Good morning to all our wee cherubs. We are missing you so much that I watched your Christmas message again so that I could see all your lovely wee faces again.
Today I have a very special task which I would love everyone in P1 to get involved in. Today Mrs Forsyth and I want to tell you about a very special Scottish person called Robert Burns. Rabbie was a very famous poet who wrote lots of different poems. We would like you to make a big decision today and choose one of the poems in the PowerPoint below to learn off by heart. This will take you a few days to be able to do. Everything you need to know is in the PowerPoint. For anyone new to PowerPoint, when the document opens, click on slideshow (top bar) and select to watch from the beginning. I have done a voice over on the poems to help with pronouncing the Scots words and dialect, although I am very sure that you will all be better at that than me!
So why not forget about letters and numbers for one day and have fun learning a new poem. We can’t wait to find out which one you liked best!
As usual, if you have any issues, concerns or ideas/opinions you would like to share, please let us know at :

Good morning P1 – Tuesday 12th January
Good morning P1.
I hope that everyone had a good first day with home learning yesterday. Please send us a wee message to let us know how you are and what learning you have been enjoying – we really want to know. We miss being in school with you so if you could add a picture to your message then it would be lovely for us to see you. I know that yesterday was a tricky day with the glow website having lots of problems but I’m hoping that you didn’t find it too tricky using our school app to get the learning suggestions for the week. For the adults, if you would like your child to use Sumdog as a way to practise number skills then please just email me as I have all the login details for the class. Be aware that when you do login to Sumdog for the first time, there is a short diagnostic process to gauge the level that your child is at so please make sure that your child answers independently, though you can support to show them how to answer etc.
Today looks like it is going to be a lovely, but chilly day so please take time to get out of the “home classroom”, wrap up warm and enjoy some outdoor time as a family.
Thank you to those children and adults who took time to email us yesterday. It was so nice to make contact with you so please, even if you just want to say do so. We are hear to connect and engage with you throughout this learning process. We also want to know about any technical issues ASAP so that we can sort them out for you.
Missing you all lots.
Mrs Agnew.

P1 learning across the curriculum wb 11.01.21
Below are some suggestions for learning across the curriculum, such as topic work, health & wellbeing tasks and some fun ideas for drama, PE, music and art. Again, these are ideas to support you and your child in their learning in different areas. There is a wide range of suggestions to keep you having fun together.
P1 learning in maths + numeracy wb 11.01.21
Below you will find links to numeracy and mathematics activities which you can work on with your child. The first link is a grid of different activities. The second link is a PowerPoint to give you different ideas of how to present the learning and the final link is to help your child improve their number formation. Remember that there are a huge number of ways to improve your child’s number knowledge from setting out a number of objects and counting 1-1 or just chanting numbers in order. Please do not feel pressured to complete everything this week as a wide range has been offered to help meet the learning needs of all children in P1. Also please keep us updated with what you and your child have enjoyed and would like more ideas about.
Happy New Year everyone!
Happy new year to everyone at Dalmellington!
I hope that everyone had a lovely, restful holiday.
I am so looking forward to working with everyone in P1 this term.
Keep your eyes open on the blog for more fun learning to come! x
