Junior Road Safety Officers

Yesterday we went to Troon and learned about road safety and trained to be Road Safety Officers.  We drew a poster all about road safety, we played a board game, we acted out what might happen if we don’t pay attention when we cross the road.  We spoke about being safe on the roads.

It was fun and we can’t wait to be your Road Safety Officers.

Maths Family Learning After School Club

Mrs Schendel and Miss McLean will be running a Maths Family Learning Club in the school every Tuesday in November from 3pm – 4pm.

This club is open to all pupils across the school who must be accompanied by an adult.

The aim of the club is to support children and families with all aspects of maths.  You will have an opportunity to work together on our maths scrapbook activities, to  ask questions about the maths work that takes place in the school and try out some of the resources and methods we use in the classroom.

These are drop in sessions.   There is no need to book a place or attend every week.

Our first session will be on Tuesday 1st November.  Please collect or meet your child as normal at the school gates then come to the main entrance.

Please contact Mrs Schendel if you have any enquiries.

Pupil Survey Results

As well as asking our parents/carers  for their views about our school, we also asked our pupils.  Please click on the links below to view their very honest and relevant feedback and suggestions.

We’ll work together during our Assemblies to address their suggestions and see what changes/improvements we can make happen.

Pupils doing well Oct 22

to improve – pupils Oct 22

Update – thanks to everyone who donated to our Harvest Hush-Sponsored Silence during the October holidays.  Our final total is now a brilliant £173.00!!

Survey comments – Thank you

At our recent Parents Night on October 12th, our House Captains did a wonderful job of asking parents/carers to complete a short survey of two questions –

What are we doing well in Catrine PS?

What can we improve in Catrine PS?

Thank you to everyone who contributed.  I’ve compiled all of the responses and they’re proudly displayed in the school as we’re chuffed to bits with the positive feedback we received.

Hallowe’en Fun at Catrine PS

We will be celebrating Hallowe’en on Monday 31st October at the school.  Pupils can either come to school in a Hallowe’en costume or dressed in casual clothes like a Dress Down Day.

Please ensure that their Hallowe’en costume is suitable for playing outside during interval and lunch, and that they can take it on and off by themselves when using the toilet.  Please note – no huge accessories (swords etc) or scary masks.

Our pupils will be taking part in Hallowe’en activities throughout the day and will be having a party in their class in the afternoon.

We’re looking forward to a spooky and fun-filled day!

End of Term 1 Thanks

Wow! Term 1 has simply flown in!

Thank you … to all family and friends who joined us at our Harvest Service.  It was lovely to show off our singing and welcome you back into the school again.

Thank you … to everyone who kindly donated to our Harvest Hush-In.  The fantastic total of £124.50 was raised, which will go towards transport costs for our school Christmas trip – details to follow next term.

Thank you … to everyone who attended our Parents Night appointments.  We had a turnout of 98% – our highest turnout EVER!  It was wonderful to chat with parents/carers and great to see families admiring the artwork in our corridors and classes.

Reminder … the school and ECC close today at 3.00pm for the October holidays.   We hope everyone has a lovely break and we look forward to welcoming our pupils back on Tuesday 25th October at 9.00am.

Harvest Hush-In 2022

Harvest Service – Wednesday 12th October @ 9.15am

A warm welcome is extended to all family and friends to come and join us to celebrate our Harvest Thanksgiving next Wednesday 12th October. Please note we are not asking for food donations this year, thank you.

Catrine Primary School – Harvest Hush-In

To help raise money for school funds we are hosting a Sponsored Silence on Wednesday 12th October.

P1, P2 and P3 pupils will aim for 30 minutes silence, with P4 to P7 pupils trying to be quiet for 45 minutes!

The Harvest Hush-In will take place in class between 1.00pm and 2.00pm.  The pupils will read books and complete activities related to reading.  Each class has a class library so there is a wide range of books available.

All money raised will go towards transport costs for our whole school cinema trip in December – details to follow.

As we are a cashless school, donations for the Harvest Hush-In should be made on ParentPay – this means that we don’t need individual sponsor sheets. When you log into your ParentPay account, you will see a Harvest Hush-In notification – you can donate as much as you like (minimum donation of £1.00).  Please do not send cash into the school.

Please contact the school for any more information, thanks for your continued support and we hope you can join us at our Harvest Service next week.     Mrs Govans

Parents Night – Wednesday 12th October

This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, have a wee look through their jotters and class work, ask any questions you may have about their progress and find out their learning targets for next term.

Please phone the school for an appointment on 01290 551436 and we look forward to opening our doors to you for our first in-school Parents Night since October 2019!
