Happy Holidays!

What a year it has been!

We are so proud of all our children, families and staff who have been such superstars during this extraordinary year.  We have faced lots challenges but we have faced them together and achieved so much despite the obstacles in our way.

We have had such a fun week this week to end the year with walks to the park, skimming stones in the river, board games, outdoor games, escape rooms, movies and so much more! Mrs Govans has really missed being with us but she has been enjoying seeing photos and videos of what we have been up to.

P7 enjoyed their fun day on Wednesday and boogied the day away in their disco dome.  We wish them the best of luck as they head to the academy and look forward to hearing how they all get on next year.

We say goodbye to Miss Feighan, Mrs Stewart, Mrs O’Hare and Miss Robertson and thank them very much for all their hard work.

We are delighted to welcome Miss Edmond as our P3 teacher next year, I’m sure she will have a great year at Catrine Primary School.

Please keep a look out over the holidays on our blog and school app for all the arrangements for coming back in August.  Pupils return on Thursday 19th August.

I wish you all a very happy summer holiday.  Keep safe and I look forward to seeing you in August.

Last few days of term!

Primary 7 are looking forward to their leavers fun day tomorrow.  Details of this are on the P6/7 blog page.

All other pupils will be taking part in some fun activities throughout tomorrow and the rest of the week.   Pupils can come to school in casual clothes for the rest of the week and be suitably dressed for going walks or playing outdoors.

A reminder that the school closes at 1pm on Friday.  Pupils will receive their school lunches before they are sent home.

School meals week beginning 21/06/2021

Please fill in the menu below indicating your child’s choices for this week.

School lunches – week beginning Monday 21st June

We are having to make some changes to the lunch menu for week beginning Monday 21st June due to a wide variety of factors.  This means that if you have already ordered your child’s lunches for this week they may receive their choices on a different day than scheduled.

We are working alongside our brilliant school kitchen staff to ensure that all pupils will receive a meal of their choice each day, and we will always contact you if there are any problems.  Please keep checking our GLOW and APP for further updates, and thanks for your continued support.

ECC Sports Day

The ECC joined us on Thursday for the second half of their Sports Day activities. First the P6 buddies set up challenges for them which they rotated round. Then they stopped for a well deserved snack and the new P1 children gave their buddies a lovely poster. This was followed by the races: the flat race, the sack race and the bean bag race. It was a brilliant morning and it was so nice to see the P6s helping their buddies and all the other children from the ECC. They certainly made us proud!

Health Week Day#4 and Day#5

The last two days of our Health Week have been brilliant!

Yesterday’s challenge of 20 squats and today’s challenge of 20 high kicks – not a problem to the pupils of Catrine PS!

Thanks to everyone who has donated already to our Health Week Family Fitness fundraiser via Parentpay – it will remain open until Monday 14th June.  All money raised will be shared between the PS and the Parent Council to purchase resources for all stages.

Have a lovely weekend!  Mrs Govans

Health Week Day #3

Today’s Fitness Challenge was 20 lunges – and some pupils put in a bit more effort than others, as you’ll see from our wee video!  Thanks to Miss Burleigh for leading today’s session.

So, Family Fitness Challenge at home tonight is 20 lunges – please keep your photos and videos coming.  It’s great to see you all taking part in so many different ways and different places, from the beach to your gardens.

Tomorrow’s challenge – 20 squats 🙂

Health Week Fitness Challenge – Day 2

Another great day for Health Week – P3 doing lots of activities in the cage at the Games Hall, P5/6 clearing and replanting our school flower and vegetable patches, ECC pupils up for their third transition visit with our P6 buddies providing loads of sporty games for them and our daily challenge – today it was 20 burpees!

All classes put in a great effort again – check out our class blogs for photos.  Thanks to Keir, Lenore, Kaiden and Ashton for sending in photos of their family completing 20 starjumps at home yesterday.

The challenge is now back to our families to do 20 burpees at home later today.  In partnership with the Parent Council we’re setting the challenges as a fundraising venture so thanks to everyone who has already logged onto Parentpay and made a donation towards school funds – it’s very much appreciated!

Tomorrow’s challenge – 20 lunges!

Health Week – tomato plants

Thanks so much to Diane, Georgia’s mum, for organising for every pupil in Catrine PS to receive a tomato plant from her work, Sunnyside Nursery in Kilwinning.

Your child will be coming home today with a tomato plant and Diane has created a leaflet to give lots of advice to help with looking after the tomato plant at home.

So, read through the leaflet and we hope you’re enjoying home-grown tomatoes in your salads over the summer months!
