P1 and P6 Teddy Bear’s Picnic

The children from P1 and P6 had a wonderful afternoon down at the ECC for our Teddy Bear’s Picnic. The P6 children were such fantastic role models, playing with and looking after their buddies. They even took a book with them to enjoy when they were eating their delicious teddy shaped biscuits. The P1 children had great fun seeing the ECC ladies and telling them all about the big school. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Shelagh and the kitchen staff for making the delicious biscuits. They went down an absolute treat!

Reading Leadership Committee

The Reading Leadership Committee met for our final time yesterday. We spent a lot of time tidying the library as we have started letting classes check out books to take home. So far Primaries 2/3, 3/4, 5/6 and 6/7 have had the opportunity to borrow a book and P1 and P4/5 will get their chance next week. The committee have been amazing at ensuring that the library is kept tidy and the books are all labelled and put in the correct areas. We also spent some time making book marks.

World Book Day

The Reading Leadership Committee group met yesterday to plan next week’s World Book Day event which will take place on Thursday 7th March.

They decided that each pupil should bring in their favourite book from home and every class will allocate a set time to “Drop Everything and Read”.  Don’t worry if you don’t have any books at home, the children will be able to borrow a book from the library.

The committee have also planned a series of activities for each stage including book themed treasure hunts for the Infants and Middle classes and Kahoot Quizzes for the Upper primaries.

In the afternoon the teachers are all going to swap around to read their favourite kid’s book to another class.

Look out for some pictures of all our exciting activities next week!

New Library Books

The library committee are absolutely delighted with the new books we were able to purchase following a very generous donation from the Parent Council. Mrs Govans also very kindly allocated us some money from the Pupil Equity fund which allowed us to purchase even more books. We would like to say a huge thank you to both the Parent Council and Mrs Govans. Just look at all the fabulous books we were able to buy!

Library Committee

The children in the Library Committee have been working very hard to set up the school library and celebrate reading within the school.  We organised World Book Day  activities including quizzes for P1-3 and P4-7.  On Wednesday, the committee went through all the entries and put all the correct names into a hat to choose the winners.  Congratulations to  Ellie in P1 and Eli in P5 who are pictured here with the lovely new books they chose.

We have been lucky enough to receive PEF funding from the school and a very generous donation from the Parent Council to help us buy books for the library so the children spent quite a bit of time looking through websites to create wish lists which we will be purchasing shortly.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Olly’s Gran for making these beautiful cushions for our library couches. They look amazing and they are so lovely and cosy to sit on. We have also been spending time making some book inspired artwork to help make our library look beautiful.

We still have  a bit more work to do before the library is ready to open but we are so proud of what the committee has achieved so far.

School Library

We are the library committee and we are really hoping to create a library in school.  We desperately need books in good condition to use in the library.  If you have any old books that you have out grown or don’t really like anymore please send them into the school office. Your donations are really appreciated. Lexie B (School Library)

ECC Sports Day

The ECC joined us on Thursday for the second half of their Sports Day activities. First the P6 buddies set up challenges for them which they rotated round. Then they stopped for a well deserved snack and the new P1 children gave their buddies a lovely poster. This was followed by the races: the flat race, the sack race and the bean bag race. It was a brilliant morning and it was so nice to see the P6s helping their buddies and all the other children from the ECC. They certainly made us proud!

Primary 3

Primary 3 have settled back into school life so well! They have been been working really hard and are having great fun doing activities and playing with their friends. We have been having regular check-ins and they keep commenting on how happy they are to be back and see  theirf every day. They created these beautiful Self Portraits that are helping to brighten up our corridor. Don’t they look fantastic?

Last week we had great fun outside helping to beautify the playground. We got stuck in and helped to pull up all the weeds. We even found a few wriggly friends!

Please remember to fill in the photo permission form on Glow so we can post more photos and let you see what the children are getting up to in class.
