To assess our learning about rounding numbers up to 9 digits, we had to sequence the Twitter accounts from smallest numbers of followers to largest, then round the follower numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.
Pupils were extremely successful with this task and most can confidently round numbers up to 9 digits and explain how they did it.
P7 have been learning about the upcoming COP26 Climate Conference in Glasgow in November. We have been investigating “The World’s To Do List”; the Global Goals set out by the United Nations.
In teams, pupils had to decide which 3 of the Global Goals were the most important, justify their opinions and how they could tackle their chosen goals.
P7 have been enjoying getting back into strings practise!
Mr McCulloch has been practising our finger positions with us and some of us have even been able to try out different instruments.
We have been learning about Number and Number processes this term.
So far we have investigated determining the value of a number using each digit’s place value, alongside multiplication practise and problems.
Today we completed some fun, hands on activities to embed our learning around place value.
We used brain flakes to create structures of different values. Each colour represented a different value and we had to count up what each structure was worth and add the digits to the place value chart.
We also used the base 10 materials to build “Place Value Palaces” and again, had to count up the total value of our structures. We got rather competitive with who could build the biggest value!
We also had lots of fun playing rounding shuffleboard! We had to choose a number from the noticeboard, then glide he puck across the floor to see if we had to round the number to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 or 10000.
Today Primary 7 started building towards their class charter.
We discussed the SHANARRI indicators (Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included) and how they link to some of the UN Children’s Rights articles.
We chose 8 articles in our groups to best represent each of the SHANARRI indicators and matched them up.
Our next step is to plan a theme for our class charter and choose our final 5 core rights for our class charter.
