Scottish Celebrations in Nursery

Over the last few weeks in Nursery we have been entertained by local piper Harry and dancer Emma.  Harry played his pipes in the garden where the children enjoyed a dance and some shortbread they had made earlier that day.  Emma held a session with the children where she performed Highland dances and the children even got to try some of the dance techniques themselves.

Other activities included reciting Burns poem’s, some children created picture of their poem’s at home and enjoying a traditional Burns supper of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties.

On 5th February, Miss McKie held her second peep session. From previous feedback, the peep session topic today was ‘Understanding and Managing Behaviour’. The parents got talking about their child’s behaviour whilst having a cuppa before the children came into have fun. We read ‘My Big Shouty Day’, which was relevant to the topic, played games with the parachute which families loved and sang songs which got the parents and children interacting.

Miss McKie would like to thank all the families who attended today’s first Peep session. Today’s session was an introduction into Peep and “getting to know everyone”.  Our families enjoyed taking part in some fun getting to know you games, listened to a story and even made their own face.

We had such a great turnout we have decided to split into two smaller groups. Miss McKie will look at all the feedback and be in touch with a date and time to best suit your requests.

Peep – People Learning Together Programme.

Miss McKie has recently been involved in a new training programme designed to improve children’s life chances, by making the most of everyday learning opportunities – listening, talking, playing, singing and sharing books and stories together through parental involvement.

She is pleased to announce our Sheuchan Nursery PEEP sessions will commence on Wednesday 22^nd of January at 10am.  This will be a great opportunity for parent’s to come in to Nursery have a cuppa and a blether with other parent’s, spend time with their children and learn all that PEEP has to offer. Siblings welcome.

Thank you

Thank you to all our families who attended our Nursery Christmas Sing a Long.  I am sure you will all agree the children sang their Christmas songs wonderfully!

The children in Nursery enjoyed their Christmas Party.  They played musical statues, musical bumps, Christmas corners and pass the parcel. The children especially enjoyed their special visitor all the way from the North Pole.

On Wednesday 20^th November our summer new start parents and children were invited in for a small bookbug session and received their Explorer Bookbug Bag. All parents and children enjoyed reading a story, singing songs and being gifted their bags.
