Stewart Fisher from Dunskey golf club has just finished a 4 week slot of Tri golf as an after school club. Every Thursday, younger pupils stayed after school to pick up some top golfing tips from the professional. They worked hard on their swing and got some target practise in, in our gym hall. P1-4 have been cooking up a storm at Leswalt Primary raising money for Children in Need. Both classes has a visit from the SSPCA on Friday. Tracey came along and spoke to the younger class about her role in helping care for animals in Scotland, before moving to P5-7 and have a workshop session on Scotland’s wildlife. All the children enjoyed this visit and had plenty of questions for our visitor.

Both classes recently enjoyed a trip to Wigtown Book Festival to hear from authors. First of all, Renita Boyle led us in a sing-along session to warm us up! The boys and girls of Leswalt Primary managed to keep a special secret – a goodbye assembly for Mrs Bathgate. Mrs Bathgate had taught at the school for 8 years, and is now moving away from the area and leaving her post at Leswalt. Pupils at Leswalt Primary were recently delighted when local resident Stewart Mc Culloch popped into school to hand in a donation of money for the children at school. Mr Mc Culloch can normally be found down at the Kirkland pond, helping local fishermen of the area. He held a fishing competition at the Kirland pond recently and a raffle generated £80.
